Disney's D23 is happening from Sept. 9 to 11 and promises to show off a host of anticipated projects from across the many different IPs that the House of Mouse controls. For Star Wars fans, the future of games set in a galaxy far, far away looks brighter than ever, as new information on a number of games in development may be shown next weekend.

Star Wars games have long since been a welcome sight for gamers -- so much so that a build of the unreleased Star Wars Battlefront 3 was celebrated by fans, even after 14 years since its untimely cancellation. While fan support has cooled somewhat due to the EA exclusivity deal, the franchise still has life-long fans looking to return to the epic science fiction series. With EA's exclusivity no longer a factor and D23 right around the corner, these are the confirmed Star Wars games in development that fans are eager to see.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is likely one of the most well-received of any Star Wars game, still maintaining a dedicated fan base 19 years after its release in 2003. The upcoming remake is currently suffering from troubled production, with the project having moved to Saber Interactive from original developer Aspyr Media.

The shaky state of the game's development as well as concerns over the need to even remake the game has led to worries about the future of the remake, but current information points toward the KOTOR remake still being expected to release. Whether the game will make an appearance at D23 remains to be seen, but any new information is sure to excite those looking to experience the game in a fresh coat of paint.

The sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor, has been a greatly anticipated title since the initial release of Respawn Entertainment's stellar original, which introduced gamers to Cal Kestis. With any luck, fans might get to see something new from the game at D23. Information on Survivor is still slim, though the upcoming tie-in novel, Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars, will help bridge the five-year gap between Fallen Order and the sequel.

After being announced during the Star Wars Celebration in May, Jedi: Survivor is expected to be more complex and mature than its predecessor, tackling the challenges that Cal faces as one of the only Jedi left in the galaxy during the height of the Empire's power. While no solid release date has been confirmed, the game is expected to be relatively close at hand.

Quantic Dream, the developer behind Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, announced this game set during the High Republic Era at the 2021 Game Awards. While the game's troubled development may have been exaggerated, there has been controversy surrounding the developer that has some fans worried. Expected to take after other Quantic Dream games, Star Wars Eclipse is anticipated to be a narrative-driven game, set hundreds of years before the beginning of the Skywalker Saga.

The Apex Legends developers are busy with more than just their latest season of the battle royale and Jedi: Survivor. While no titles have been given yet, Respawn has confirmed their work on an FPS and an RTS taking place in the Star Wars universe. While it can be expected that Respawn will focus its announcements on Jedi: Survivor, title announcements for the pair of games could be enough to stoke hype for the fans.

Developed by Zynga and Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars: Hunters is an arena-style team-based shooter to be released on the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The game's initial 2022 release date was pushed back to 2023, allowing the former FarmVille developer to spend more time fine-tuning the game for fans. The title will be taking the hero shooter genre popularized by Overwatch to the Star Wars universe and is set to feature Rebels, Imperials, and Bounty Hunters from the Galactic Civil War era of the series.

One of the giants when it comes to open-world gaming is also working on a Star Wars title. The game is under development at Massive Entertainment, best known for their Division series. It promises to bring the huge scale of Ubisoft's trademark style of open-world development to an as-of-yet unknown period of Star Wars canon. With Ubisoft's Forward event during the D23 weekend already showing off Assassin's Creed Mirage, players may have the chance to see what's in store for this teased title.

Skydance New Media, a studio headed by game director Amy Hennig, is also working on a new title for the Star Wars universe. Hennig's previous experience in the Star Wars game scene was Project Ragtag, a title by Visceral Games that fell through. Hennig was the creative director behind the Uncharted series, meaning that fans of high-octane adventure games are likely to enjoy what her new studio can produce.

It's not likely that all the Star Wars games in development will have something to show at D23 this year, as some aren't expected to see release dates for years to come. Despite that, the volume of new titles taking place in George Lucas' iconic setting means that every Star Wars fan will have something to be excited about as they watch for new trailers, announcements, and even some gameplay footage surrounding these titles.
