Meghan Markle and Prince Harry risk being "frozen out" by the British royal family during the couple's upcoming visit to the U.K., according to a source close to Prince Charles.

The pair's much-publicized visit to the U.K. next week, in which they will take part in several charitable engagements, has reportedly not been received well by Buckingham Palace.

"Charles adores Harry, and would like nothing better than to get the relationship sorted. But a meeting next week is unlikely," a source, identified as a "friend" of the Prince of Wales, told the Daily Beast Friday.

The harsh comment comes just days after Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, appeared to have threatened Queen Elizabeth's family with insinuations that she could open up further about the time she spent in the U.K.

"If Meghan is actively threatening to reveal further secrets, and telling interviewers, 'I haven't signed anything, I can say anything I want,' then it's not surprising they are being frozen out," the Daily Beast's source said.

Harry, 37, and Meghan, 41, announced to the world they would abdicate their royal roles in January 2020. The shocking move added to tensions between the couple and most of the royal family.

Earlier this week, in a revealing interview with New York Magazine's The Cut, the former "Suits" actress opened up about her relationship with her own father and also said that she "never had to sign anything that restricts me from talking."

Meghan and Harry are scheduled to start out in the northern English city of Manchester on Monday, where they'll attend the youth leadership event, One Young World summit, where Meghan is expected to give the keynote address.

The trip will conclude in London on Thursday, where they will attend the WellChild Awards, where Harry is expected to deliver a speech.

According to royal biographer Christopher Andersen, Harry's older brother, Prince William, and his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, will likely avoid the Sussexes during their trip.

"It's going to be interesting in the next few days when Harry and Meghan go to Europe, and they're gonna be playing royal hide and seek," Andersen told Us Weekly on Tuesday.

Reps for both Meghan and Buckingham Palace didn't immediately respond to requests for comment Friday.
