Concept art for the new Alien TV series shows an early look at a Xenomorph in its new setting. The new show will continue the franchise on the small screen, debuting on FX/Hulu, similarly to the new Predator prequel film, Prey. Legion's Noah Hawley is the showrunner for the series, which is set to being production in 2023.

FX chairman John Landgraf has revealed tidbits about the Alien show as it has developed, confirming that it will take place roughly 70 years from now and take place on Earth, which will be the first time the franchise has taken place there (outside of the non-continuity AVP: Reqiuem). It's also been confirmed that Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley will not be part of the show, nor will any other previous characters from the series.

One fixture that will remain in the Alien TV series is the Weyland-Yutani corporation, which has been a part of the series from the beginning, acting as an entity that frequently acts in their own best interests, regardless of what happens to humanity. Per AVP Galaxy, some new concept art from the upcoming series has been revealed, which shows off the familiar Xenomorph in its futuristic Earth setting. The three images show a crashed Weyland-Yutani ship, the USCSS Maginot, which has landed in a city controlled by the rival company, Prodigy Corporation. The other images feature what appears to be soldiers investigating a large industrial-looking room, and finding Alien eggs, while another image shows a fully-grown Xenomorph attacking one of the men inside a shaft.

Hawley's previous work on Legion and Fargo have shown his unique style and take on characters, which should prove to be beneficial to the Alien series. The new concept art looks promising as well, showing that Hawley isn't shying away from putting the creatures front-and-center, as they should be. While the human drama and intrigue is an important aspect of the Alien franchise, it's nothing without the drooling Xenomorph presence.

The Alien franchise is expanding beyond Hawley's series as well, with an Alien 5 in development from director Fede Alvarez. The Evil Dead director's take on the franchise will also be unconnected to previous films, while returning to the franchise roots. Alien 5 will also be debuting on Hulu, where the Predator film Prey recently saw tremendous success. Disney appears to be making the streaming platform a home for their more mature-rated properties, such as Alien and Predator, which may well be the best place for them after years of box-office ups and downs.
