HUDSON VALLEY, NY - As New York continues to pour resources into fighting the wildfires at Minnewaska State Park Preserve, U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced grants to 48 fire departments in the state, including eight in the Hudson Valley.
The senators said the funding will be used to purchase essential equipment, boost training and provide firefighters with support.
"It is essential that we provide our firefighters with the resources they need to keep our communities safe," said Senator Schumer.
"We owe it to them to ensure that they have the top-of-the-line safety equipment and comprehensive training they need to respond to emergencies," Gillibrand said.
