A leaked Assassin's Creed Mirage promotional image seemingly confirms the game's title, Baghdad setting and a DLC expansion. The next installment in the historical open-world saga has long been rumored to tell the origins of Basim, a supporting character from Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Recent rumors have elaborated that a Basim game titled Assassin's Creed Mirage is currently in the works, and a leaked promotional image may confirm these claims.

According to rumors, Assassin's Creed Mirage will return to the franchise's roots by delivering a streamlined Assassin experience. The game will reportedly tell Basim's origins as an Assassin in Baghdad, with his early life running parallel to the Abbasid Caliphate's tumultuous Anarchy at Samarra period. Gameplay in Assassin's Creed Mirage will go back to basics, with RPG elements being stripped away and the franchise's iconic Eagle Vision making a grand return. The game is intended to be highly reminiscent of the series' first entry, given its stealth focus and Middle East setting, and a remake of the first Assassin's Creed using Mirage as a foundation will apparently be included in a DLC Season Pass.

Popular content creator JorRaptor (via ScriptLeaksR6) recently shared a leaked marketing image from Assassin's Creed Mirage. The image, which will apparently be used to promote a piece of DLC for the game, seemingly confirms the title's Middle East setting and traditional hooded Assassin protagonist. The title of the DLC, The Forty Thieves Quest, is a clear homage to the classic Middle Eastern folk tale Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. This both cements the Middle East setting of Assassin's Creed Mirage and suggests that a full Season Pass of post-launch content is planned. For now the authenticity of the image remains unclear, though Ubisoft seems to be actively removing any traces of the image online.

While the official announcement of Assassin's Creed Mirage seems imminent, fans are also curious about the live-service game Assassin's Creed Infinite. Heavily rumored before being seemingly confirmed by Ubisoft, Infinite will allegedly serve as a platform that will gradually be expanded with additional projects over time. The first Assassin's Creed Infinite experience, codenamed Project Red, is reported to be set in an Asian time period like Feudal Japan or Medieval China. The various titles added to Infinite over time may vary in both setting and gameplay, giving players a wide variety of different historical experiences.

Assassin's Creed Mirage remains a mere rumor for now, but the leaked promotional image certainly seems authentic. The image seems to confirm the upcoming title's setting and suggests a return to the series' roots, while also confirming that post-launch missions or pre-order bonuses will remain a series staple. Basim's origins in Baghdad may make a fascinating story, but Assassin's Creed Mirage remains in the shadows until an official announcement is made.
