Finding your perfect home starts with a feeling. For Pip Edwards, that feeling came almost immediately after viewing this apartment in Sydney's Rose Bay, conveniently located around the corner from her parents' home. "They actually suggested I go to the inspection," Pip says. "That was the first time I saw it and I put an offer in the very same day!"
But before it became the home she knew it could be, there were changes to be made. While the building was only six years old, "There were big '80s and '90s vibes throughout," she explains, "with heavy focus on marble tiles, especially in the living areas, and a super-small kitchen. I had to completely renovate before moving in."
Pip redid the kitchen, doubling its size, and renovated the laundry. The old marble flooring was hauled out and new herringbone parquetry installed in its place.
New tiling was completed on the patio and upstairs balconies. New carpet was laid, and the windows, doors and lighting were all updated. Finally, the interiors were freshly painted.
Interior designer Chloe Matters helped Pip coordinate the colour scheme. "But I did push the limits with some of my choices," says Pip, "as I love colours and textures."
The kitchen was designed by Dylan Farrell. "The vibe was based on the theme of green, which represents harmony, growth, creativity, abundance - which is what this move and new space represented for me and my son," says Pip.
Now complete, Pip and her son's fresh, green-filled abode at the top of a hill in a quiet cul de sac finally feels like home. "And it feels like me!" she says. "It's my first home that I've renovated and decorated and it's sparked my creativity in a new way."
