172 Rutland Street (left of image) was the least expensive house sold in Grimsby in the second quarter of this year.

A detached house in the leafy village of Hatcliffe was the most expensive property sold in the Grimsby area in the last quarter, while a terrace in Rutland Street went for the least amount of cash.

The difference between the two sales was more than £430,000, official figures show. But the numbers look tiny when compared with the most expensive house purchased anywhere in Britain - a semi in Phillimore Gardens, Kensington, which went for an astronomical £37,500,000.

The Land Registry lists the price paid for every property bought at market value. Here are the most and least expensive houses bought in the last quarter in Grimsby and North-East Lincolnshire.

The statistics cover the second quarter of this year, from April to June. As well as listing the price paid for every property bought at market value, the Land Registry data also includes sales under a power of sale/repossessions, buy-to-lets (where they can be identified by a mortgage) and transfers to non-private individuals.

As the data relies on buyers, or their solicitors, registering the sale and the price paid with the Land Registry, mistakes in listings may happen. They are usually corrected at a later date. Issues can include figures with too many digits or shared ownership prices paid for a part share listed as the whole price.
