Comanchero national sergeant-at-arms Tarek Zahed has been arrested by police in Sydney.

Comanchero bikie boss Tarek Zahed has been arrested in Sydney's eastern suburbs as part of an ongoing investigation, NSW police say.

Tactical police shot out Zahed's car windows with bean bag pellets late on Sunday afternoon.

"As part of an ongoing investigation, a 42-year-old man was arrested by Tactical Operations Unit officers during a vehicle stop on New South Head Road at Edgecliff," a police spokesman said.

Zahed was taken to Surry Hills Police Station with the spokesman saying no further information would be given.

The Comanchero national sergeant-at-arms only just recently re-emerged in public after he was shot ten times in May during a gangland shooting that killed his brother, Omar Zahed.

His arrest follows a spate of gangland shootings across Sydney in recent months and several high-profile arrest of bikie figures.

Zahed and his brother were shot multiple times as they left a western Sydney gym in May.

That shooting came two weeks after the fatal shooting of gangland figure Mahmoud "Brownie" Ahmad on a Greenacre street.

Days after both Zaheds were shot, Ahmad's nephew was killed outside his home.

Police did not offer any further detail of what their ongoing investigation was.
