The highly-anticipated Star Wars series, Andor, is only a few weeks from release on Disney+, but some viewers got an early look after a 10-minutes sneak peek surfaced online.

On social media, a thread of clips was shared, showcasing a sneak peek intended for audience members catching the limited re-release of Rogue One. It features an introduction by series creator Tony Gilroy, as well as star Diego Luna.

Andor centers on the titular Cassian Andor, five years before the events of the Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the show follows the revolutionary as he transforms from a thief to an agent of the Rebellion. Unlike Lucasfilm's other series on Disney+, Andor is intended to be a grounded series, according to Gilroy.

He previously explained, "Our show is about ordinary people. They're behind the scenes, they're going to build the road to the revolution. We're really in the kitchen with these people - our people are back there washing dishes, so canon might be happening off stage, but what's happening for them is something completely different," going so far as to call it the driving concept behind the project.

The show has had a long and troubled development and production. It was originally announced in 2018 with Stephen Schiff attached as showrunner. Eventually, Schiff left and was replaced by Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue One and was already serving as co-writer on Andor. According to reports, Gilroy's involvement saved the project, which was not going in a direction that satisfied Disney. In fact pre-production had been shut down for several weeks before he came along. After rewriting certain episodes, in 2020, after the project and the industry was in the midst of shutting down due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Gilroy officially replaced Schiff as showrunner.

Disney+ recently released Andor's full release schedule, showing the live-action series' 12 episodes will be released across September through to November, starting on Sept. 21 and reaching its conclusion on Nov. 23. It should be noted the show will see a three-episode premiere.

While details are still scarce concerning what viewers can expect to see, it is known that Rogue One's star droid and Andor's faithful, sardonic companion, K-2SO, will not be appearing in the show. At least not in Season 1. Gilroy previously assured that there are plans to introduce the fan-favorite character and it will enjoy a "spectacular" debut.

Andor is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 21 on Disney+.
