The Teen Mom franchise is getting a makeover with the debut of its new show Teen Mom: Next Chapter, which will combine casts from Teen Mom: OG and Teen Mom 2. Though there was speculation Jenelle Evans would make a return, it's since been confirmed that the controversial reality star isn't coming back.

Speaking to TMZ, Jenelle's manager, August Keen, revealed that she was unable to reach a contract agreement with MTV. The network apparently wanted her to sign an exclusive deal, which her manager claims would've prevented her from pursuing other opportunities.

While the manager didn't expand on what career possibilities signing back on to Teen Mom could limit, he hinted she's looking at signing onto her own show. "[Jenelle] "has a new dynamic series in development, keeping the concept under wraps for now," August shared with the publication. He said the show will be picked up by a major television network.

Jenelle was originally let go from Teen Mom 2 in 2019 after her husband, David Eason, killed their family dog. He defended his actions by stating the dog tried to nip their daughter and even uploaded footage of the incident, though the couple still received intense backlash for the situation.

David has also come under fire for his controversial comments on social media as well as against other Teen Mom cast members. Following reports that the production crew was scared of David, he was fired from Teen Mom 2 in 2018, while Jenelle's firing followed the next year.

Jenelle was invited to appear on the first season of Teen Mom: Family Reunion last year. While she was interested, she reportedly refused to attend without her husband, which MTV wouldn't allow.

Since her manager's comments, Jenelle has spoken out to echoe similar sentiments. "I ALONE decided to decline the terms within the agreement to pursue and further other career choices, based on the terms," she told PEOPLE.

"It would have not aligned with my current opportunities. No hard feelings. I appreciate MTV and the producers for including me, [and] nothing but great vibes to the girls," the mother-of-three continued.

Also speaking to PEOPLE, her manager revealed they're not closed off to future negotiations with MTV, but they'd need a better contract. "There may or may not be more discussions to this," August explained. "As of right now, we're definitely not doing the show. They need to come to us with a much better offer."

So far, MTV has not responded to Jenelle's comments.
