Midfielder Bryn Morris has started all six of Grimsby Town's games so far this season after signing for the club this summer and has revealed that his decision to join the Mariners was mainly due to his previous relationship with Paul Hurst and Chris Doig.

The trio worked together when Hurst and Doig were manager and assistant, respectively, at Shrewsbury Town, and the way the pair set out to prepare for games is something that Morris respects them for as a player.

The 26-year-old has been heavily trusted by Hurst so far in a Grimsby shirt, and Morris has settled into his role nicely at the base of a midfield three alongside Gavan Holohan and Kieran Green. Regular game time and playing under someone trustworthy are important factors for any player, and it is no different for Morris, who is pleased with how he has bedded into the team.

Morris told Grimsby Live: "First and foremost, I know with him [Paul Hurst] and Doigy [Chris Doig] that things are going to be done right. In all honesty, I didn't know much about Grimsby as a club, but I know joining back up with those two things would be right and professional.

"It gives you that solid foundation, so it was one of the main attractions. Training is done right and is really enjoyable, and I've started off well so far. As we keep ticking the games off, it is good for us as a midfield that we keep getting picked together.

"We are starting to build an understanding of how we each play; for example, if I pick up the ball from deep, I know Gav [Holohan] or Greeny [Kieran Green] is going to be a bit higher up in a pocket to receive the ball.

"Also, making runs off the ball into space is how the gaffer wants us to exploit teams; so far, it has been us three in there, but I'm sure as the season goes on will be asked to play different ways and in different set-ups.

"I've been about a few times in my career already, so I want to settle here and play as many games as possible. I've started all the games so far, so long may that continue. The group has been easy to settle into, and when things are good in the dressing room, it helps with your performances on the pitch."
