'The Boys' is coming back for season 4 on Amazon Prime. And now, a spinoff show, called The Boys Presents: Varsity, is also on the way. Here's what we know about cast, plot, and crossover.

This post contains spoilers for The Boys Season Three finale.

Season Three of The Boys may have come to an end, but fans can rest easy (or impatiently!) knowing that Season Four is on its way. It wont be long before we see the likes of Hughie, Starlight, Billy Butcher and co. gracing our screens again.

Back in June, a tweet by the show's official page announced the renewal. And, for some that was good news, for others... not so much, as the most recent run of episodes received mixed reviews from critics and fans. However, having run for three seasons already, the satire superhero show has been a huge hit for Amazon Prime, so a renewal isn't exactly surprising. Plus, we love a comeback! For now, we'll just have to wait to watch, then watch and judge.

Here's what we can actually expect from The Boys, Season Four.

Given that the show only just dropped the announcement for Season Four on June 10, we cannot say for sure when to expect the new season. However, given previous wait times between seasons, it's likely that we're looking at the premiere for the next season for being sometime between the summer of 2023 and the spring of 2024.

What we do know, however, via Karl Urban (Billy The Butcher), is that filming is set to begin later this month on August 22nd. Some new posts by Antony Starr, AKA Homelander, teased the filming of the new season. And in a couple of posts, Starr shared pictures of him with his The Boys co-star, Chase Crawford. In one photo on Twitter, he wrote that the pair were "Back in Toronto"-where the show is filmed.

He also shared a post on Instagram with the caption, "Travel time. Wonder what that means." The official account for Prime Video UK commented saying, "Whatever it means we're excited for it." Well, us too.

We have some guesses based on some major reveals from Season Three's finale. First, there is the issue of Ryan between Billy the Butcher and Homeland. In the finale, we see Ryan (the son of Homelander and Butcher's ex-wife Becca) choose to go with Homelander over Butcher. But the fate of the boy is still to be determined-or, more straightforwardly, will he be corrupted? In the last episode, Ryan is one of the many people who watch in delight, with a smile on his face, as Homelander murders a Starlight supporter in broad daylight. Given that Butcher made a promise to Becca to keep Ryan safe, there is still so much more to be explored in this area-especially since Butcher now only has max 18 months to live.

Lucky for us, the show's creator, Eric Kripke, opened up about what can expect from the next season's plot. "A lot of the season will be a battle over Ryan," he told E! News, "because if Homelander ends up raising and influencing the kids that's basically a second Homelander with apocalyptic stakes."

But also, the moment of Homeland murdering a Starlight supporter in front of adoring fans who cheered on is also set to be a major plot line. Speaking to Insider, Kripke discussed the moment and its importance to the future season: "It's a hint of one of our big themes in Season Four, which is society as a whole is fracturing into these two factions and no one's listening to each other and the threat of violence just gets worse and worse every day," he said, "It's an appetizer of what all these superheroes are gonna be doing to society in season four."

So far, we can expect Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Colby Minifie, Laz Alonso, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone and, probably, Cameron Crovetti, to all be back for the next season.

Some other characters are harder to make guesses regarding. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kripke made it clear that even though Black Noir is dead, it may not be the last we see of his character. "It's definitely not the last we've seen of Black Noir as a hero. It's just that the guy who was inside [the Noir suit] in season 3, he's gone," he said, "But we have Nathan [Mitchell] playing a really interesting and hilarious character who wears the suit next season."

It looks like The Boys Cinematic Universe is set to be expanding. It is confirmed that the new spinoff for The Boys, which will be titled The Boys Presents: Varsity, is on its way.

The new show will take place at Vought International's Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, which is the only superhero school in America. It's set to follow a new, young group of superheroes as they embark on their super journey and vie to secure the best contracts. While a release date is still yet to be confirmed, we can expect to see a pretty exciting cast helm the show. Patrick Schwarzenegger, Jaz Sinclair, Sean Patrick Thomas, Marco Pigossi, and more are all signed on for The Boys spinoff.

Not only that, but we may also see a cross-over between the two shows. Speaking to Deadline, Kripke confirmed that a crossover between the two is highly likely.

"There's definitely crossover, and we're doing our best to design a universe that sees some of the issues and storylines in Season Three hand off to the first season in Varsity," he said, "Like there's a presidential campaign happening in the background of that season, and there's certain things that are happening at that school that are both in reaction to Season 3 of The Boys. There's Soldier Boy, etcetera, but also some new storylines that are happening in that season of the spinoff that we have to pick up and take into Season 4 of the show."
