Gov. Ron DeSantis is feeling the need for speed in his latest campaign ad.
The spot, which was posted on Twitter by the Florida governor's wife on Monday night, showed DeSantis as a Top Gun-inspired "Top Gov" while taking aim at "corporate media".

DeSantis, once considered by many to be a political maverick, donned a leather jacket and aviator shades and even climbed into the cockpit of a jet in the short ad.
"Top Gov. Dogfighting. Taking on the Corporate Media. Rules of Engagement are as Follows," Casey DeSantis said in the tweet.
The video alternated between the governor giving a speech and moving around an air base dressed up in a Florida version of the 1980s classic.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this is your governor speaking," DeSantis said in the video. "Today's training evolution - dogfighting, taking on the corporate media. The rules of engagement are as follows: No. 1: Don't fire unless fired upon, but when they fire, you fire back with overwhelming force. No. 2: Never ever back down from a fight. No. 3: Don't accept their narrative."
The Florida governor has repeatedly taken aim at the media during his time in office. He has also signed multiple controversial bills in recent months, including the so-called Don't Say Gay bill, which forbids the discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation in a school classroom for children in kindergarten through third grade. DeSantis also signed legislation that bans critical race theory in school classrooms.
DeSantis has risen to become one of the most prominent Republican leaders in the country and is considered a top 2024 presidential hopeful. However, DeSantis has not confirmed that he's running for the nomination in 2024. DeSantis is the most likely to beat former President Donald Trump for the party's nomination, according to polls.

The video was released just as Florida Democrats as set to decide who will challenge DeSantis. The leading candidates in the Democratic race are Rep. Charlie Crist and Nikki Fried, Florida's commissioner of agriculture.
DeSantis will represent the Republican Party in the general election in November, after running unopposed.
