Game of Thrones spent seven seasons building up Daenerys Targaryen. First, she suffered abuse from her brother, then from her future husband and the father of her child. Fans have a close and detailed look into the horrific things Daenerys has to endure. As a fan-favorite character, it is terrible to see how the show repeatedly kicks her when she is down.

Daenerys built herself and others up around her. She believed the Iron Throne to be her birthright and had fought tooth and nail to get there. And this is where she dies. Fans struggle to see why this happened to such an empathetic, strong, and kind character.

Mention of sexual abuse ahead, pertaining to the plot of Game of Thrones.

It was as though everywhere Daenerys ventured, some people immediately opposed her and her very existence. Dany fought to be heard; even then, they didn't listen. In Meereen, her people turned on her and vilified her. Xaro Xhoan Daxos saves Dany from Qarth's rejection, only to betray her.

Daenerys believed that the people of Westeros and Kings Landing would welcome her as they prayed for her arrival. Except, they aren't. And Dany has to deal with yet another group of people that don't care for her. It is a never-ending tirade of hate.

After Dany's death, Greyworm fights for justice for his Queen and wishes to choose Jon's punishment. Unfortunately for him, Jon's brother Bran is the new King, and his sister the Queen of the North. So all they do is send Jon to the Wall. His direwolf and friends reside at the Wall, and he is free, like a member of the Wildlings.

It is terrible to kill off a beloved character, someone who has fought for her place in this world, especially since Dany had no justice in life and received no justice in death.

By the end of her life, Daenerys is comparable to one of the evilest characters in the show: Cersei. The fact that Cersei is cowering and sobbing reflects her genuine shock that Dany has chosen to burn Kings Landing to the ground, and fans were shocked too.

It was a disservice to Daenerys' character. The show reduced her to acts she never would've dreamt of doing. Daenerys came to the Seven Kingdoms to save the people, not kill them. Through season 8, the writers built up ger last-minute turn to evil, but Dany has stood in the face of worse and not flipped.

From the beginning of Game of Thrones, Daenerys has stood out compared to other Targaryens. The immediate comparison is with her brother Viserys, who planned to ride on Kings Landing and destroy whatever came in his path. Dany is so different from him and wishes no harm to others.

Yet, in the end, she does just that. Dany falls prey to Targaryen madness, an illness of the mind, as her father once did. It was like a switch in her mind, and the Daenerys fans knew and loved was gone.

Daenerys is sold to Khal Drogo by her brother, Viserys, as he wishes to command the Dothraki army. Her brother should've protected her. The rape and abuse begin almost immediately. And yet, Dany still falls in love with Drogo and carries his child.

What Drogo did provide Dany with, however, is strength, and she had never had any semblance of power before in her life. This explains why Dany continued their relationship after the abuse. Her brother had been cruel to her before this because he was cruel at heart. Violence is a huge part of Drogo's life and his culture. He unlearnt this nature. Regardless, the abuse shouldn't have happened.

Dany lost so much throughout her life and believed herself to be the last Targaryen. Therefore, she lost her entire family. Despite hating her brother, his death will have still left an impact. Dany's first love, Khal Drogo, dies and does her child. She then forces herself to say goodbye to her next love, Daario, and later watches Missandei die by beheading.

Daenerys loses in other ways, like finding out Jon is a Targaryen and is her nephew. Dany, therefore, loses her lover, her position in the world, and the one true claim to the Iron Throne. It seems unfair to allow one person to endure so much.

The first betrayal in Dany's life is her brother selling her to the Dothraki. But this is expected of Viserys and comes as no surprise. However, Jorah's betrayal is unexpected and devastating. Dany is let down time and time again by people she trusts.

Varys, Tyrion, and then her love, Jon, betray her. Of course, fans could expect Varys' betrayal, as he serves the realm, not one ruler. Tyrion is shocking as how he cares for Dany and appears dedicated to her. But Jon is the worst betrayal. And fans felt Dany's devastation in her last moments.

Jorah has been everything to Dany throughout the series. He is her protector, brother, friend, and advisor. To her knowledge, Daenerys has no living family, but Jorah becomes her family. Despite his earlier betrayals, he comes back and serves loyally until the end.

Jorah's death is a bitterly sad moment, and it truly feels at that point that Dany is alone in the world. Jorah would've defended her to the end, but the show decided to leave her with absolutely nothing and no one. As Maester Aemon said, "A Targaryen alone in the World...is a terrible thing".

As a result of many betrayals, fans would think that Daenerys would no longer be able to trust her. How wrong. She believes Jon when he swears to share his parentage with no one. Dany suffered so much at the hands of people supposed to love and care for her. Yet, she still found the strength to love and trust others.

Dany's resilience comes to nothing when Jon tells Sansa and Arya about his parents, speaks with Tyrion behind her back, and then kills her. The ultimate betrayal is to lure someone who loves and trusts you into your arms, into a false sense of security, only to take their life.

From the beginning, Dany's goal has been to sit on the Iron Throne. She dreamt of liberating the Seven Kingdoms from the Baratheon/Lannister rule and coming home to applause, love, and admiration. But unfortunately, before Dany can really take her seat on the throne and even have a chance of ruling, she dies.

Eight seasons brought her to the throne room, only to die there. It is a rule twist of fate, and Dany joins her father in being murdered before their throne by someone who was supposed to protect them. Season 8 did an incredible disservice to Dany, especially after her astonishing character development.
