Manchester United target Hakim Ziyech is "super-appreciated" by manager Erik ten Hag, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are in need of attacking reinforcements in the final couple of weeks of the transfer window and could turn their attention to the 29-year-old, who is out of favour at Chelsea.
Earlier this month, the Manchester Evening News reported that Ten Hag is being 'met with resistance' by the United hierarchy in his attempts to bring Ziyech to the club.
It's believed that the Dutch tactician has identified the left-footed attacker as an alternative target to Antony, who is being priced out of a move to Old Trafford by Ajax.
MEN state that United have 'largely backed Ten Hag's preference for targets familiar to him but Ziyech has been deemed an exception', although they don't stipulate why this is the case.
And Football.London claim that Chelsea are open to selling Ziyech, who earns £100,000-per-week, should a suitable offer arrive for his services after already rejecting an offer from AC Milan.
The reigning Serie A champions have supposedly already made an offer of ?25 million (£21million) for the Moroccan which was quickly turned down by the capital club.
Ziyech and Ten Hag know each other well from their time at Ajax together, claiming a domestic double in 2018/19 while reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
But despite United new boss being an admirer of his former star, Romano has informed GiveMeSport that 'there are no negotiations taking place between United and Chelsea'.
He said: "Yes, Ziyech is a player who is super-appreciated by Erik ten Hag, but at the moment, there are no negotiations taking place between United and Chelsea. It is not something that is ongoing right now."
Ziyech made a name for himself during his time at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, registering 49 goals and 81 assists in 165 appearances across all competitions for Ajax.
However, the creative talent has struggled to replicate that form since he made his £33m switch to Chelsea back in 2020, providing 24 goal contributions in 83 outings.
And Ziyech is yet to play a single minute in the current campaign after being left on the bench for the west London outfit's opening two games of 2022/23.
Yet a reunion with Ten Hag could bring the best out of Ziyech once again, providing United with the attacking impetus that they have so desperately lacked in recent times.
