You could get up to $250 back on your next cruise booking, thanks to available credits from American Express.

These offers are part of Amex Offers, which are statement credits available on different credit cards from American Express. Anyone with an Amex card has access to Amex Offers, but the promotions you see across your cards can vary.

Let's look at some cruise offers available right now and how they can lead to big savings on your next booking.

There are currently three Amex Offers that can lead to big savings on your next cruise.

If you're considering sailing with Celebrity Cruises, you can get $175 back with this Amex Offer. You'll need to spend $500 or more across one or more transactions by Aug. 31. This offer does exclude some specialty cruises but doesn't exclude shore excursions. This offer provides a 35% return on your spending.

If you're looking at booking a cruise with Carnival Cruise Line, you can get up to $150 back when you spend $500 or more. Luckily, you don't have to spend all $500 in one transaction. However, you should note that there are some exclusions, such as onboard spending. This offer expires Nov. 7 and represents a 30% return on spending.

Those who are sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line can get $250 back after spending $1,000 or more by Sep. 12. This offer is only valid for cruise reservations and can give you a 25% return on spending.

If you haven't used an Amex Offer previously, it's important to note that you must add the offer to your credit card before making the purchase. Once you've added the offer to your card, use that same card to make your purchase with the merchant. You must use the card to which you added the offer in order to receive your statement credit.

Since these offers are for statement credit, you will need to spend the required amount of money first and then receive reimbursement from American Express. This typically comes in three days, even though Amex says it takes 8-12 weeks at a maximum.

In addition to using these Amex Offers to get a statement credit on your cruise booking, you can pile on extra discounts and points or miles. Whenever making an online purchase, you should use a shopping portal - or possibly use Rakuten to earn American Express Membership Rewards points on your purchase.

In addition to this, using the right credit card can lead to extra points on your purchase. If you have these Amex Offers available on multiple credit cards, the best card to use with your offer would be the American Express® Green Card. The Amex Green card earns 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar on all travel spending.

The information for the Amex Green card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

If you don't have the Amex Green card - or these offers aren't available to you on that card - another good option is The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express. This card earns 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar on all purchases for the first $50,000 spent on the card each year.

And when you do spend on dining, you should use a credit card that will maximize your rewards and potentially even score special discounts. Thanks to temporary card bonuses and changes due to coronavirus, you may even be able to score a meal at your favorite restaurant for free.

These are the best credit cards for dining out, taking out, and ordering in to maximize every meal purchase.
