Emmerdale's Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) likes to pretend he's hard as nails, but underneath his tough, gruff exterior there's a sensitive heart, especially when it comes to his mum, Faith (Sally Dexter).
Although Cain's main emotion towards his mum was anger after the way she abandoned him and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) when they were children, he's recently come to terms with the past and forgiven her.
Mother and son have shared some tender moments like watching the sun rise together, and reminiscing over the memory box that Faith stole back from her stepdaughter's house. She'd kept treasured mementoes of her children's childhoods and both Cain and Chas were touched that Faith had always had them in her heart even when she wasn't with them.

So in upcoming episodes when Faith announces she wants one last, big party before she dies, Cain declares he's not going to go because he's worried that he'll find it too upsetting.
It takes Moira (Natalie J. Robb) to point out that he has to put his own feelings aside for Faith's sake and that if he doesn't he's just being selfish. She forces his hand by confirming that he'll be at the party.
Shamed by Moira's actions, Cain prepares to go to the party - but inside he's still the scared little boy who can't deal with the idea of his mum leaving him again.
