Dara O'Shea was disappointed with West Brom's performance in the team's weekend defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
The Baggies lost 2-1, with goals either side of half time from Ben Brereton Diaz and Sam Gallagher deciding the game in favour of the hosts.
Despite Grady Diangana pulling a goal back for Steve Bruce's side near the hour mark, the team were unable to find an equaliser in the final 30 minutes.
The defender branded the performance as sloppy, but admitted that he felt the team deserved something from the game.
The Ireland international claimed that West Brom were unlucky only to score one goal despite the team's attacking threat but that they failed to keep Blackburn from playing to their strengths.
"I don't think we deserved to lose it, but I probably don't think we deserved to win it either," said O'Shea, via the club's official website.
"They only really had two shots, which they scored, against the run of play - but that's the Championship.
"We knew before the game that they were good on the counter, and they got us on the counter twice.
"We were sloppy. We had a few chances which we should have scored, as well.
"The pressure was there. We always look a threat when we get the ball out wide. We get it to Jed [Wallace], Grady [Diangana] and [John Swift] and let them do their thing.
"Obviously we were unlucky to only score one.
"We had lots of chances. It's just disappointing to come away from that one with a loss."
The result was the first defeat of West Brom's season, having taken two points from their previous two Championship games.
The Baggies are now 20th in the league table after just three games.
However, it is a quick turnaround to the next fixture with the visit of Cardiff City to the Hawthorns on August 17.
The Verdict
It was a disappointing result from the Baggies who failed to really convert their dominance in the game.
Two points from their first three games is not a fair reflection of their performances so far, and points against Middlesbrough and Watford were decent results.
But now the pressure will be mounting on the team to earn a first league win of the campaign.
Wednesday's clash will be a chance to quickly reset and put Sunday's result behind them with a win over the Bluebirds.
