The Premier League can make or break a summer signing.

The likes of Thierry Henry, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Sergio Aguero have all made the English shores their own home over the years with legendary performances, but for each move that makes a hero, there's seemingly one that amounts to zero.

It is, after all, uncanny that top-class players like Andriy Shevchenko, Radamel Falcao and Juan Sebastián Verón have all come to the Premier League during their careers and simply not gotten along with the style of play.

As such, the process of predicting which signings will prove to be inspired business and which will go down as financial disasters depends on far more factors than just how talented the player in question really is.

But the difficulty of reading whether a new signing will fly or flop isn't enough to stop us from trying here at GIVEMESPORT, because there are few things that we love more than a good old Premier League prediction.

Naturally, we've given our forecast for the final 2022/23 table, as well as our best guess for the Team of the Season, but now it's time to hone in on the signings that we think will either thrive or toil.

And we've got our positive hats on this weekend as we've named our XI of players who have either been signed permanently or arrived on loan to a Premier League that we think will absolutely tear it up this season.

Obviously, we hope that every new signing goes onto enjoy a stellar season, but the unavoidable reality is that flops do pop up each year and we just happen to think these stars are most likely to avoid that status.

So be sure to look into our crystal ball, read our tea leaves and inevitably laugh at us in nine months' time as we show you the Premier League signings XI that we think will enjoy the best seasons down below:

An inspiring signing by the Toon on the back of arguably Pope's greatest season in a Burnley shirt, it's not for no reason that we're forecasting the England international to make the 2022/23 Team of the Season.

Expect Eddie Howe to refine his ball-playing ability, the clean sheets to start rolling in with Sven Botman in front of him and a sprinkling of brilliant shot-stopping displays against the 'big six' to feature along the way.

There's not been too much activity at right-back during this summer's market, but Williams looks like a real coup for Forest on the back of a sensational loan spell with Fulham that showed he's far too good to be playing in the Championship.

What's there to say about Koulibaly that hasn't already been said? He's one of the world's best centre-backs and looked unstoppable on his Chelsea debut, so don't be shocked if he nullifies every Premier League striker and their dog.

We're not saying anything that hasn't been said before when we note that Botman could prove to be this Newcastle regime's Vincent Kompany equivalent, but it's been quipped so often for a reason.

That's because the Ligue 1 winner with Lille has all the skills and attributes to shore up Newcastle's defence and make a real success of himself in the Premier League, hauling the Toon up the table with him.

Mikel Arteta needs reinforcements at left-back and someone who can create from deep in midfield while still showing defensive mettle, you say? Yup, it's easy to see why Zinchenko's arrival is bound to suit Arsenal down to the ground.

Thomas Tuchel has cycled through what feels like ten million different wingers at Stamford Bridge without ever seeming to get the balance right where they can truly start churning out goals. Enter Sterling.

A proven goalscoring winger is exactly what the Blues have been crying out for, just in the way that Sterling has been itching for a new lease of life away from Manchester City, so this just feels like a match made in heaven.

We ummed and arred about whether to pick Doucoure or Boubacar Kamara because both signings proved to be examples of a mid-table Premier League club punching above their weight with a defensive midfield purchase.

But Palace just seem to be singing off the same hymn sheet whereas Villa look to be going through something of an identity crisis, so it's the impeccable Doucoure who we think will make the swifter start to life in England.

A Jesse Marsch player if ever there's been one, Aaronson just feels like the right player at the right time for Leeds and if his scintillating Premier League debut is anything to go by, then this prediction will age like a fine wine.

A signing that's flown under the radar but really shouldn't have, because Cornet is a real firecracker of a player who even thrived in Sean Dyche's negative Burnley side that plunged down to the Championship.

So don't be surprised if David Moyes unshackling him as part of his exciting West Ham project proves to be the catalyst that really sees Cornet explode as a Premier League player.

It's not that we don't think Darwin Nunez will be a success this season - on the contrary, we think he'll thrive - but just not as much as Haaland, whose goalscoring record at just 22 years old is nothing short of a joke.

With 29 goals in 27 Red Bull Salzburg matches, 86 goals in 89 Borussia Dortmund games and 20 goals in 29 caps for Norway, Haaland is bound to build on his opening weekend brace at West Ham.

You're thinking it, we're thinking it, your nan's dog sitter's insurance broker is probably thinking it. Jesus has got all the makings of an Arsenal icon as he steps up as the main man having been lost in the City shuffle.

Not only do we foresee the Brazil star helping himself to 15 league goals, but we also envisage his work ethic, creative skills and intelligence in the box bringing the best out of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe.

Have we made a fool of ourselves or have we absolutely nailed it? You'll have to wait and see when May rolls around.

After all, it could well turn out that Jesus, Doucoure and Sterling go onto endure difficult years at their new employers, while the likes of Nunez, Kamara and Marc Cucurella could prove to be the standout summer signings.

Like we say, though, we hope that all the purchases of the last few weeks go onto enjoy a brilliant season in England's top-flight because the competition will only benefit if that proves to be the case.

However, the brutal reality is that Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea cases do happen every single year, so we'll be back shortly to give you our picks for the signings that we don't think will work out. See you then.
