New York (Knewz) - Stormy weather left Arizona residents a bit wet and needing to protect their homes as monsoon season continues.

Footage from various parts of the state showed what residents had to deal with, including rising water and pea-size hail.

On Aug. 7, severe storms passed through the state bringing dust, heavy rains, hail and lightning.

A video shared by user Blake Major showed a downpour with lightning and pea-sized hail in Surprise, which is just northwest of Phoenix, Arizona.

That National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for that area that included the possibility of nickel-sized hail. There was also a flood warning with the possibility of minor flooding in low-lying areas.

With high temperatures expected to surpass 100 degrees for the foreseeable future, the threat of stormy weather continues every day this week, forecasters said. The highest chance of storms is on Aug. 9.

But the Phoenix area wasn't the only part of Arizona dealing with severe weather.

In Flagstaff, Arizona, residents lined their homes with sandbags to protect their property from stormy weather. Footage posted on social media showed the scene as residents packed the bags and stacked them, trying to keep water from their residences.

The rushing water instead headed down the street and away from the homes thanks to their efforts.

"Sunday funday, amiright," Twitter user @PandaMittens wrote on social media.
