Max Aarons believes that Norwich City need more "ruthlessness" if they are to register their first win of the Championship season.

Aarons scored the Canaries' first goal of the campaign against Wigan Athletic at Carrow Road on Saturday but the hosts remain winless after being relegated from the Premier League, despite attempting 22 shots against the Latics.

The 22-year-old full-back claimed that whilst creativity was not a problem for Dean Smith's side, Norwich must do more to convert chances and take three points from matches.

""We just need a bit more ruthlessness in front of goal. We created opportunities, but more ruthlessness gets us the win. I'm frustrated that it hasn't come for a few different reasons."

"We are disappointed that we haven't got the win today. Dominating the ball and having the chances we did, it's frustrating."

Norwich host Birmingham City on Tuesday as they begin their Carabao Cup campaign against John Eustace's men and Aarons believes the tie represents an opportunity for City's squad players to stake a claim for a starting berth.

"We've got a big squad now, so it's important that everyone gets minutes. The cup game especially is a good chance for people to impress. Onwards we go."
