There are still about 1,000 households without electricity after high winds caused power disruptions in eastern Finland.

On Saturday, an estimated 41,000 households lost power due to the weather system.

During Saturday night, at least 11,000 remained without electricity.

Between Saturday and Sunday night, power was restored to the vast majority of households.

In North Karelia there are about 700 customers without electricity as of Sunday morning. In North Savo that figure is roughly 300.

Jukka Leppänen, a project manager at PKS Sähkönsiirto - the primary electricity provider in the region - told news outlet STT that most of the faults in its electrical supply system had been fixed Saturday night.

The majority of the blackouts were concentrated in Eastern Finland.
