Norwich City are reportedly keen on a loan deal for Aston Villa attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Birmingham Live reports that former Villa manager Dean Smith is keen to bring in Ramsey on a season-long loan with the Canaries. The younger brother of Jacob Ramsey spent the second-half of last season on loan with Cheltenham Town.

He has made one competitive senior appearance for Villa, but the 19-year-old was included in the first-team squad for their tour of Australia in pre-season, with Steven Gerrard handing the teenager game time. The youngster was also a key figure for Villa in pre-season under Dean Smith last term, with the England under-19 international making the first-team bench in three Premier League games prior to Smith's sacking in November.

Ramsey was a member of Ian Foster's Young Lions that were crowned under-19 European Championships this summer. The teenager played in all six matches, with Ramsey scoring the second goal for England in a 3-1 win against Israel after extra-time in the final.

Norwich have completed three deals in the summer transfer window so far, including experienced midfielder Isaac Hayden who has joined on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Newcastle United. The Canaries have also completed permanent deals for South American duo Gabriel Sara and Marcelino Nunez from Sao Paulo and Universidad Catolica respectively.

Ahead of City's Championship clash with Wigan Athletic on Saturday, Dean Smith hopes there will be more signings to come before transfer deadline day on September 1. "We're still hoping for more [new signings]. We're still working on some," said the Canaries boss.

"It's a long window, we've still got another four weeks until the end of August. So maybe some more ins and outs, we'll have to wait and see.

"I think maybe some more creativity in the squad would be good. Somebody who can unlock the door. I feel we've got the players here, we didn't show it last week [in the defeat to Cardiff] and the players know that and they'll be better for the next game against Wigan. If we can add to our ranks the level of quality that we need then we'll be happy."
