While schools start up on Thursday across the country and many people's summer vacation is coming to an end, there may still be time to enjoy some plus 25-degree weather before then.

According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the weather will warm up towards the weekend.

On Wednesday, temperatures will remain mostly between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius in southern and central regions of the country, and between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius in the north.

However, they are likely to rise on Thursday and Friday, with those days expected to be the warmest days of the week as temperatures are likely to exceed 25C.

Southern Finland and the Pirkanmaa region will mostly see plus 25-degree weather on Thursday, Meteorologist Tomi Laurinen told news agency STT on Tuesday.

Eastern parts of the country will warm up further on Friday, with temperatures reaching past 25C as far north as North Karelia and Kainuu, according to Laurinen.

However, heavy rain and strong thunderstorms will also arrive from the west by Friday.

While the timing of the rainfall is still uncertain, it appears that the heaviest rains and thunderstorms will occur in the west of the country.
