$259.00, Brooklinen

Material: Linen

Colors available: White, cream, petal, haze, charcoal chambray, charcoal chambray, and white stripe

Bed sheets reviewer: Madeleine Luckel, design editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I really felt like linen sheets had become all the rage. This was a couple years ago, and while I toyed with the vision of a perfectly wrinkled dove gray set, I'm much more of a white bedding person. Brooklinen was one of two brands I was aware of making the type of linen sheets I wanted.

How do they fit your bed? Well, or I guess in a normal way. I have the hardcore bundle, which comes with two extra pillowcases and a duvet cover. The duvet cover often feels a little big for my comforter but I think that's my quilt's problem. (And yes, the duvet cover does have corner ties.) The pillowcases fit well too, but my favorite thing is probably that the pesky fitted sheet has clearly labeled tabs that say "long side" and "short side."

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? It's really nice. When I got these I thought white linen sheets year-round might be a slightly bold move, since I don't live my life on a Greek island, but the nature of the fiber is versatile and temperature regulating.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Yes, but they are a little bit thin. I'm fine with this, but it's just something to keep in mind if you are picturing a super dense weave.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Yes.

$349.00, Linoto

Material: Organic linen

Colors available: White, ivory, natural oatmeal, flax, espresso, pale blue, indigo, navy, lavender, burgundy, Malbec, mint, golden green, grape leaf, terra cotta, red, warm grey, graphite, black, Santorini, turquoise, butternut, powder pink, thistle, aubergine, and harvest gold

Bed sheets reviewer: Erika Owen, associate director of audience development

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I'm a hot sleeper and I feel like I've been on the hunt for a pair of sheets that won't cause me to overheat for my entire life. I had heard that linen was a great material for sleeping and wanted to give it a try.

How do they fit your bed? They run pretty large! I have a full-size bed and the flat sheet does pool over the edge of my mattress and bed frame. The fitted sheet is a much better fit, but does stretch after a while. I haven't found this to be a massive issue.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? No matter how warm it is in my bedroom, these sheets are constantly cool. I love slipping into them every night. I also love the lived-in look they constantly have, thanks to the easy wrinkling. That may not be for everyone, but it takes the pressure off of making sure everything else in my bedroom is super organized and clean.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? They sure do! I love the white sheets I bought, but I am tempted to buy them in more colors given what a massive part of my sleeping ritual they've become. (Seriously, I have trouble falling asleep on non-linen sheets sometimes, thanks to how cool they keep me at night.)

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Yes, I would recommend these to friends who also have issues with overheating in the middle of the night.

$210.00, Bed Threads

Material: 100% French flax linen

Colors available: Ruby, rust, terracotta, oatmeal, turmeric, olive, khaki, sage, drift, mineral, petrol, ink, lavender, pink clay, rosewater, white fog, charcoal, and pinstripe

Bed sheets reviewer: Zoë Sessums, associate editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I'm always on the hunt for linen bedding and love when there are lots of different colors-I chose the blue-gray mineral option.

How do they fit your bed? Great! They're not too snug, so you get that perfectly slept-in rumple that I think is essential to a linen-bedding look.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? I've become a real linen-sheet convert and love the structure and sturdiness of these while still maintaining some softness. I feel like they're going to age well.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? For sure. The heft and quality are supreme-you really get what you pay for. I'm also pleased with the color, it being a rich blue/gray color.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? I would! I like that you can choose a set with a duvet, you can go for a bold color, and it ships quickly. Get into the linen life!

$140.00, KOTN

Material: Linen and Egyptian cotton

Colors available: White, natural, mustard, capers, raven

Bed sheets reviewer: Elise Portale, contributor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I'm sort of a sucker for linen sheets, especially in the summertime, when the breathability and weightlessness are great for sleeping through heat waves. Also, you hear the phrase Egyptian cotton thrown around all the time, but rarely do you find it offered by a company with actual ties to Egypt. Kotn is not only invested in a good product, but also in the impact of their business, investing in their cotton farmers, an ethical supply chain, and sustainable materials that are naturally biodegradable. And not just that: Kotn also donates a portion of every order toward funding education in the farming communities they work with. Have you read anything in this review that's not to like yet? Because I haven't.

How do they fit your bed? I have a full-size foam mattress, so generally sheet sets are fairly loose on it. The Kotn fitted sheet is no exception. Linen and cotton are quite pliable, so even though the sheet fit perfectly at first, it stretched and got a little bunchy over time. It wasn't enough to affect my comfort by any means, but if you want that taught bedsheet look, you might be disappointed.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? If you like smooth and texture-less sheets, these are not for you. But if you're like me, and the light weave of linen feels luxurious, you're in for a treat. I got this set in white, which gave my bed a real hotel-on-vacation vibe both visually and physically. This set might actually seem a little odd to some people-it's just a fitted sheet and pillow cases, no top sheet-but I had actually just switched to my summer coverlet and found the lack of top sheet the perfect combination. They're soft, cool, and the color and texture held up quite well under a week of sweaty nights (gross, but you know it had to be said).

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? As a linen lover, I have quite a few duvets and sheet sets of the fabric, and to be honest, I was surprised at how much stiffer the Kotn linen was compared to my other sets. At first, I wasn't sure how I'd feel sleeping on it, but I really did end up enjoying the extra texture and crispness to the sheets. They have made my early summer nights quite comfortable, and for whatever reason, I love the pillowcases most of all. I also have never really owned white sheets before, and the color combined with the looser weave of the fabric meant that any pattern or color on my mattress or pillows would show through. If you go with white (and this sort of thing matters to you), I'd recommend getting a solid white pillow protector cover to prevent anything showing through.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? The answer is yes, but with an asterisk. For anyone who loves linen and textured fabrics, especially ones who are hot sleepers and prefer minimal coverage during warmer months, this is a guaranteed recommendation. However, for anyone who is used to high thread count cotton or microfiber sheets, the weave of the Kotn linen might feel too rough in comparison. Also, anyone who is caught up in the need to have a top sheet between them and their duvet or coverlet is going to be disappointed.

$209.00, Piglet

Material: 100% natural stonewashed French flax (Oeko-Tex certified)

Colors available: White, sage green, dove gray, blush pink, and midnight stripe

Bed sheets reviewer: Zoë Sessums, associate editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? Again, I'm always into trying out more linen products, not just because I like the look and feel, but I appreciate the sustainable production. Did you know every part of the flax plant can be used? Win! I think a white sheet set is a must, too, so I wanted to see how these stacked up.

How do they fit your bed? The flat sheet is quite large, which is how I like it-no issue with sheet hogging in the night.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? I used these sheets in all seasons and they're ideal in each one. The material itself helps regulate body temperature, and as I'm a hot sleeper, prone to waking up in a full-on sweat, these really help me stay comfortable.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? I've had these sheets for about a year and a half now and I have to say they are still as wonderful as the first day I put them on my bed. Worth it!

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? See above. This is a perfect white linen bedding entry point. They're a great investment, the quality is superb, and they'll seemingly last you a very long time.

$259.00, Pottery Barn

Material: Belgian Linen Flax

Colors available: 24 colors total

Bed sheets reviewer: Cheryl Dearborne

What attracted you to these bed sheets? The sustainable material and fair trade claims.

How do they fit your bed? My bed is full-size but the sheets are queen-size. They fit fine without bunching up.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? I sleep comfortably; they feel cooling and comfortable, but not in a terribly soft or luxurious way.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? They may have exceeded them. I was interested in the flax material because it's a sustainable fabric, but I didn't expect them to be as comfortable as they are. Even though they aren't lavish or luxurious in feel, they are comfortable and breathable. I don't wake up sweaty.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? I would. I have a lot of friends who care about sustainability, and I think they would appreciate them being both sustainable and comfortable.

$300.00, Flax Home

Material: Linen

Colors available: Cloud, Pebble, Dove, Blush, Shell, Marigold, Sage, and Pebble Stripes

Bed sheets reviewer: Kelsey Borovinsky, audience development manager

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I've never had linen sheets, but have always wanted to try them out. I am a pretty warm sleeper, and linen is most famous for its temperature regulating properties. The brand is also women-owned and -run!

How do they fit your bed? This is my only complaint. The fitted sheet is tight when I make the bed, but as I sleep throughout the night, the linen stretches and becomes quite loose again. Personally, I love tight and crisp sheets, and the fitted sheet here misses the mark a little bit. I love the top sheet and pillowcases, though.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets?  When my boyfriend and I pulled back the duvet and slipped into the bed that first night, we both audibly went "ooooooh wow, mmmm." Even with sheets fresh out of the wash, I have never had that reaction to my old linens. These are luxe and cozy without feeling stuffy like flannel sheets sometimes do or stiff like some hotel linens. I loved the texture of the linen on my skin, though that is something my boyfriend is still getting used to as they are definitely less smooth than your average cotton sheets. The biggest accomplishment is that I have been sleeping the whole night without getting sweaty, which truly does not happen too often. These sheets are like that perfect linen dress you wear in the depths of August.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? I expected linen sheets to feel nice, but I didn't even know they could feel this good, and they are supposed to get better with each wash! I really should have purchased linen sheets long ago, and now cannot wait to get in bed each night.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Ultimately yes, the only reason I do not ship these sheets automatically is because the cost can be a little prohibitive. My thought process, though, when it comes to the bed is you spend every night there, so the cost per use ends up being pretty low, and you might as well dress it in something that brings you joy and a good night because you deserve it.

$265.00, Lilla & Charles

Material: Linen

Colors available: White, Blush, Silver Cloud, Sky Blue, Khaki, and Charcoal

Bed sheets reviewer: Zoralis Perez, copy editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I'd never tried linen sheets before, so I was definitely driven by curiosity, but I was also very attracted to Lilla & Charles's commitment to sustainability. Their products are OEKO-TEX certified, and they're made from fair-trade 100% certified premium European linen.

How do they fit your bed? The sizing is perfect, although the fabric does naturally stretch a little bit after being slept in, but if you like the relaxed look of linen, it's not a problem at all. Also, the fitted sheet has very thick, sturdy, all-around elastic that does an excellent job at keeping the sheet in place no matter how much you toss and turn.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? They are super, super soft and feel amazing on your skin. Also, having tried them during winter, I can say they really help keep you warm at night. My partner and I used to double up on duvets to keep warm in our freezing apartment, but now that we have these, one duvet is enough.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? 100%. These sheets are beautiful, and you can tell that they are a high-quality product that will last a long time; after washing, the color, texture, and fit remain the same, and the stitching is intact. Also, I got mine in khaki, and the color is a very warm, rich shade that doesn't look plain or boring, which can easily happen with beige tones. I'm very happy to have these in my rotation now.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Yes. Oftentimes we forget that there are other bedding options out there besides cotton, and good-quality linen can feel just as luxurious as high-thread-count cotton sheets. So, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different that will not only feel great but also look modern and stylish.

$95.00, Allswell Home

Thread count: 300

Material: 100% organic cotton percale

Colors available: Rose, white, light grey, ice blue, and indigo white

Bed sheets reviewer: Elise Portale, contiributor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? One of my latest pandemic self-care hobbies is upgrading all of my linens-towels, throws, and (naturally) sheets. Most of my sheet sets are fairly old and were bought when I wanted crazy colors and a cheap price tag, so I figured it was time for something high quality. I've heard so many great things about percale sheets and wanted to see for myself what all the hype was about.

How do they fit your bed? I don't want to overstate it too much, but I'm not sure I've had a fitted sheet go on so easily. It's snug enough for a perfect, smooth fit yet loose enough that I don't have to pull a muscle on that last corner.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? I didn't want to leave them this morning. I could live in these sheets. They're not too hot or too clingy, which is something that drives me a little crazy about microfiber sheets. Imagine the comfort of wearing your favorite shirt and multiply it by a full-size bed.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Honestly, they exceeded my expectations. I assumed they'd be nice, but they were cozy and perfect in ways I hadn't realized I wanted.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? 100%. They may be a small step up in price than what I usually spend, but the difference in quality and comfort is pretty clear. I can tell they're worth the investment and, considering how much time we spend in bed, so are we. Definitely an upgrade worth doing.

$245.00, Snowe Home

Thread count: 500

Material: Italian milled percale cotton

Colors available: Essential white, ash grey, slate blue, classic ivory, and timeless blush

Bed sheets reviewer: Erika Owen, associate director of audience development

What attracted you to these bed sheets? Initially, the slate blue colorway really caught my attention. It's not often you find a sheet set in a perfect blue-it's not too "in your face," but still has a point of view. I loved the color in person, as well. My bedroom is a room of neutrals and the pop of color was a nice change of pace. I was also intrigued by the percale cotton; it's not a material I am overly familiar with and I usually default to linen when it comes to dressing my bed.

How do they fit your bed? These sheets fit my bed wonderfully. I'm especially fond of the fitted sheet, which has elastic running all along the edge of the sheet, instead of just in the corners. It really makes it easier to put on the bed. I have a full-size bed and there isn't much pooling over the edge of the mattress with the flat sheet, either. Sometimes I find myself tripping out of bed in the morning with other sheet sets-happy that is not the case here!

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? Honestly, I get major hotel vibes with these sheets-but the fancy kind of hotel. The sheets constantly feel cool, which is key for hot sleepers like me. Slipping into these sheets is more of a slide action, thanks to the smooth nature of the percale cotton, which is way fun.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Yes, and then some! I loved the color from the beginning and the quality makes me love them even more.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Completely-these are the kinds of sheets I would gift to my best friend after a rough breakup or an apartment move.

$297.00, Matouk

Thread count: 500

Material: Egyptian cotton percale (Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified)

Colors available: Honey, truffle, red, white, charcoal, silver, baltic, pool, azure, hazy blue, bone/white, silver/white, and pool/white

Bed sheets reviewer: Allie Weiss, deputy editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I've long heard the name Matouk mentioned in conversations about cream-of-the-crop bedding, and was eager to try it myself! The Bergamo style appealed to me for its simplicity in appearance-no frills, just a simple satin stitch that would work on nearly every style bed. The brand promises this high-end percale to be silky and light, two descriptors that I'm sure pretty much everyone would want to associate with their sheets.

How do they fit your bed? The fitted sheet fit my queen mattress perfectly. The standard pillowcases ($165 for a pair) were larger than my normal ones, which don't completely conceal the memory foam pillows I have. So I was happy to sample a roomier style, which helps make my bed look more put-together than usual.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets?  I barely noticed them-and I mean that in the best way! I hate scratchy sheets, and breathed a sigh of relief when I slipped into these. They are both lightweight, crisp looking, and soft to the touch-talk about a win-win.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Absolutely! I've been told by houseguests that my pillow-filled, all-white bed reminds them of a hotel bed. But these sheets make me feel one big step closer to claiming that I've got a hotel-caliber setup.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend?  The Bergamo sheets are pricey, but would be a great splurge gift for yourself or for a friend you really like.

$159.00, Quince

Thread count: 200

Material: Percale fabric made of 100% long-staple cotton

Colors available: White sheets with a linear embroidered trim in color options of black, gray, light gray, or white

Bed sheets reviewer: Mel Studach, Associate Editor, AD PRO

What attracted you to these bed sheets? European linen and silky sateen may be having a moment in the bedding scene, but I will forever be a fan of a crisp cotton percale-the structured white button-down shirt of sheets, as I've heard them be compared. The classic embroidered detail on Quince's percale set is what officially convinced me.

How do they fit your bed? The fit is perfect, not too tight to where it's a pain to pull the fitted sheet onto the mattress yet loose enough that the flat sheet still drapes nicely along the sides of the mattress.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? Absolutely wonderful. I've tried many percale styles over the years, and I find that this one skews a bit softer than most, which I'm totally happy about. Being 100% cotton, the set is also nicely breathable. And while the crisp, smooth texture is incredibly comfortable for sleeping, I also appreciate that when I make my bed every morning, the sheets maintain their structure sans unsightly wrinkles.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Comfortably-wise, yes. Appearance-wise, beyond!

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Yes! They're classic in both comfort and style.

$100.00, Parachute

Thread count: N/A

Material: Organic cotton

Colors available: White, Bisque, Willow

Bed sheets reviewer: Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I love Parachute's brand and, when they said they were releasing a line of organic bedding earlier this year, I jumped at the chance to give them a try. They're also made in Portugal, which is known for producing excellent linens. The factory that Parachute works with has been family-owned for generations.

How do they fit your bed? Nice and snug. These sheets are clean and crisp, so there's no stretchy action like you might expect with sheets of a lesser quality.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? It's definitely not a silky smooth experience that you might get from a sateen weave, but it feels lovely nonetheless; it's more of a grown up and tucked-in kind of vibe (which is a lot to say about a set of sheets).

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Yes. At first I was a little bit annoyed that the sheets are sold as separate pieces, but it actually makes a lot of sense, if you're someone who, like me, has a ton of extra pillowcases and top sheets lying around, or if you're someone who appreciates mixing and matching (which I also do!).

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? I would. I try a lot of bedding in this line of work and, the more I do, the more I appreciate ethical and organic production-Who wants to think about the chemicals they're breathing in while they sleep?-even if the price tag is a little bit higher.

$129.00, Nest Bedding

Thread count: 300

Material: Organic cotton

Colors available: White, Pewter, Terra-cotta, Slate

Bed sheets reviewer: Wilder Davies

What attracted you to these bed sheets? A big part of Nest's selling point is that they use organic, fair trade cotton, and they also claim not to use harsh chemicals in their processing either. Truthfully, they just looked like comfy soft sheets, and I wanted to try them out.

How do they fit your bed? They fit quite nicely. Sheets that combine full/queen sizes are a red flag for me, because they are guaranteed to either be extra tight and difficult to put on, or potentially saggy and loose. Nest is specific about their sizing, which translates to sheets that fit like they are supposed to. These sheets also have a 16" deep pocket, so they provide a lot of room for thicker mattresses or additional mattress toppers. I also used my bed scrunchie, so they fit nice and tight.

I appreciated Nest's attention to detail on the duvet cover. It has interior corner ties for securing your duvet inside; a fundamental design detail for a duvet cover that is left out more often than you'd think. On the enclosure side of the duvet cover, the buttons are positioned inward, so that the cover prevents the duvet from peaking through once fastened.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets?  These sheets are both silky soft (but not like sateen-weave silky) and exceptionally breathable. As a hot sleeper, I am very sensitive to sheets that retain heat, and these left me feeling easy, breezy, and beautiful. I typically prefer a linen duvet cover, so I was surprised to discover how much I liked having a duvet cover that had more of a sheet vibe, if that makes sense. Droolers beware though, these sheets will definitely not keep your wet, mouth-breathing proclivities a secret.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Most of the sheets I own are from the Century 21 (RIP) clearance bin, and are all either flimsy, saggy, or a tad rough. All just to say that I'm not coming from a textile connoisseur's point of view. That being said, I found these sheets to be cool, exceptionally comfortable and soft, and I can easily say that they are the nicest set I now own.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Definitely!

$279.00, Brooklinen

Material: 95% cotton, 5% Himalayan cashmere

Colors available: Jade (pictured), charcoal, fog, cream, amethyst, and white

Bed sheets reviewer: Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets?  Never met a cashmere product I didn't like. I was told these were basically the luxe version of flannel sheets in terms of softness and cuddle potential.

How do they fit your bed?  Because they're incredibly soft, they're a slightly looser fit than I typically look for, but they're not sloppy looking like a dorm-room jersey sheet.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets?  These sheets are the softest and feel incredibly well made. Because I'm a hot sleeper, I like something cool to the touch, which these are not, but they do feel breathable and not at all like sleeping on a sweater or anything.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations?  I'd never tried cashmere-blend bedding before, so I really wasn't sure what to expect. I did think they'd be much warmer overall and was pleased that they didn't feel super thick or heavy.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend?  For a friend who likes a super cuddly and warm bed setup (maybe one of those friends who's always cold), I'd definitely recommend these. For anyone like me who runs hot at night, I'd probably steer them in a different direction.

$120.00, Brooklinen

Thread count: 480

Material: 100% long-staple cotton (Oeko-Tex certified)

Colors available: White, cream, graphite, and windowpane

Bed sheets reviewer: Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

What attracted you most to these beds sheets? This set is super classic, smooth, and has a crisp feel. When my dog was little, she loved to dig into my sheets so I started buying less-expensive options that I knew I wouldn't care about if they were destroyed. Now that she's older, I was looking to upgrade to something more adult and high end. I also appreciate that, while they're not organic, they're chemical-free.

How do they fit your bed? They fit like a glove. Not a huge fan of making the bed but it's always a little more enjoyable with a fresh set of comfy sheets.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? I'm a hot sleeper with sensitive skin and they're really cool on my skin at night, which is a huge relief. I love the breathability of these sheets. They're really smooth and not at all scratchy or harsh on my skin, like some of the less expensive options I've tried in the past.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Absolutely. They feel super well made and have gotten better every time I wash them.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Definitely. While these sheets cost slightly more than I usually spend, I can definitely feel the difference in quality and the benefits of a higher thread count. I would recommend to a friend who's looking for a great quality set of bed sheets at a reasonable price point.

$140.00, Riley Home

Material: 100% premium long-staple combed cotton

Colors available: White, mist, and slate

Bed sheets reviewer: Sophia Herring, assistant to the editor in chief

What attracted you to these bed sheets?  I've only ever used cotton sheets, so I was curious about trying out a sateen set. I was also intrigued by the beautiful blue sheen the mist color gave off in the photographs and wanted to see how it compared in real life.

How do they fit your bed? They fit my bed perfectly! The corners are nice and snug. I'm a restless sleeper as well, so it's always a true test to see how the sheets hold up by morning. Every so often I wake up and find they've slipped off the corners and crumpled up onto the middle of my bed, so it's a nice change that these never seem to budge.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? At first wash I was hesitant because they weren't quite as soft as I wanted. However, this is definitely a personal preference because my partner found them to be perfect. I remembered that the website had mentioned that they get softer with every wash, so to my partner's dismay I threw them in the machine a few times, and now they're perfect.for me.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? They did, so much so that I have successfully ordered the duvet cover and sham set for a full-sateen moment. The glistening arrangement has created the perfect bedroom ambiance, calling my name every evening.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Absolutely!

$126.00, Home Bird

Material: 100% organic cotton sateen

Colors available: White, sand (beige), and blue

Bed sheets reviewer: Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I love a slippery sateen, and I was especially interested in the fact that they're ethically made in fair trade facilities.

How do they fit your bed? Perfectly. They also have the most useful feature that, in my opinion, every set of sheets ever made should have: a long-side and short-side label.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? It only took one night's sleep to be sold on the Homebird set. They're very high quality and everything you want in a sateen sheet: incredibly soft to the touch and slightly silly, with a sturdiness to them that you can tell is the result of a high thread count.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Absolutely. And here's another thing I really appreciate, as someone who has a lot of sheets in their life: the flat sheet is sold separately.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? I would. For someone who wants a reliable set of consciously made and organic sateen sheets that aren't over-the-top expensive, I think Homebird is a great choice.

$188.00, Boll & Branch

Thread count: 300

Material: Organic long-staple cotton

Colors available: White, Natural, Dune, Mist, Pewter, Stone, Sky, Shore, Mineral

Bed sheets reviewer: Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I was sold on the fact that Boll & Branch makes organic and fair trade sheets-and I love a sateen weave. Plus, the brand markets these as their bestselling sheet set around, so I wanted to see what the hype was about.

How do they fit your bed? Perfectly. I paired them with a 13.5-inch-high mattress and they fit with no problem.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? Boll & Branch claims that these cotton sateen sheets are buttery soft, and I definitely agree. That extra-soft feel paired with the lovely, cooling properties of the sheets make them feel like the luxury sheets that they are.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Definitely. I also really appreciate the earthy color palette (I chose the mineral hue), and the hem detail is a really nice visual touch.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? 100%. They're definitely on the pricier end of sheets I've tried, so I'd certainly caveat with that.

$109.00, Molecule

Thread count: 300

Material: Sateen

Colors available: Powder Blue, Cloud Gray, Ivory, and White

Bed sheets reviewer: Terri Williams

What attracted you to these bed sheets? They're extra deep. I have one of those thick mattresses that's firm on one side and soft on the other. I love it, but it's hard to find sheets to fit those thick mattresses. Also, Molecule sheets use an eco-friendly material, and this was important to me. Plus, I'm not a fan of white sheets, so I liked the variety of colors to choose from.

How do they fit your bed? Perfectly. They stay in place unlike other sheets that I have to reposition every morning when I'm making the bed.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? Delightful! They're so soft and silky and feel great against my skin. And since the sheets are wrinkle-resistant, they always look freshly laundered. Also, the sheets are made of a Tencel fabric that absorbs moisture, so I don't wake up hot and sweaty.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Yes, in fact, they exceeded my expectations.  Companies make all sorts of claims about their products, but these sheets actually live up to the hype.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Yes. In fact, I have recommended them to friends and family members. And since they're reasonably priced, I might even give a set or two as gifts.

$127.00, Beditorial

Thread count: 300

Material: 100% brushed cotton sateen

Colors available: The Al Dente Sheets come in one colorway, pictured

Bed sheets reviewer: Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I mean, look at them! The pattern is totally distinct and unique. They make me smile when I see my bed all made up and don't look like anything else I own.

How do they fit your bed? Like a glove.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? Well, fun factor aside, the sheets were a pleasant surprise to sleep on. After I washed and slept on them for a few nights, they feel more like a cross between a sateen and a percale set-they're a brushed cotton sateen-soft and cool but with a touch of structure to them.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? I'd say they exceeded them. It's nice to break up the super earthy, muted color palette with something bright and bold every once in a while. It's not everyday you get a set of sheets that look totally unique and also feel nice and light-which they definitely do.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Definitely. I'm also considering a pair of the Primo sheets for myself.

$419.00, Cozy Earth

Material: 70% bamboo viscose and 30% linen

Colors available: Natural beige and light gray

Bed sheets reviewer: Audrey Lee, commerce writer

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I'm a big fan of both my loungewear and bamboo sheet set from Cozy Earth, so when the brand released a linen version this year, I had high expectations. I'm not a particularly hot sleeper, but during the summer I like my bedding to have a little extra ventilation to combat humidity and high temps. Since linen is a seasonal wardrobe staple of mine, I was excited to experience what a bamboo hybrid material would feel and look like.

How do they fit your bed? I got these sheets in a full, and whereas my other Cozy Earth queen set clung to my old mattress like a dream, I do notice quite a bit of drooping around the sides, though it's nothing a little tucking can't fix. That said, if you have a taller mattress, I imagine these sheets would be great option.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? Cozy Earth's OG bamboo bedding is super light and airy, so it's mostly a summer staple that's out of my rotation come fall. Since these sheets are a bamboo-and-linen combo, they're slightly weightier (but still incredibly comfortable and ultra breathable), making them an ideal year-round bedding. Plus, if you love the look of linen but maybe not the feel, these lean a little softer to the touch.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Even though I still prefer the OG 100% bamboo viscose bedding from the brand, I don't think you should overlook these linen sheets. I sometimes find my 100% linen sheets a tad too rigid (especially if they're on the newer side), but the added bamboo gave this set a noticeably soft and touch-friendly texture.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Anyone who sleeps hot or just wants some more ventilation at night will be pleased with these sheets. I'd especially recommend them to someone who likes the way linen looks, but finds the textile too rigid.

$159.00, Brooklyn Bedding

Thread count: 300

Material: Bamboo cotton

Colors available: White, Khaki, Silver

Bed sheets reviewer: Terri Williams, contributor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I wanted some breathable bamboo sheets, since bamboo is a sustainable material. Also, I hate scratchy sheets, so I wanted some that were soft and comfortable. The sheets also needed to have deep pockets, since I have a higher profile mattress. I also like a variety of neutral color choices. These sheets checked all of those boxes.

How do they fit your bed? Exceptional fit. They stay in place until it's time to take them off to be laundered.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? It's an enjoyable experience. Bamboo cotton is so soft, and it's also moisture-wicking, so I stay cool throughout the night. The sheets also stay in place, so I never have to worry about them sliding up the sides of the mattress.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Yes. Even after weekly washings, the sheets have retained their color and crispness, and look as good as they did on day one.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Without hesitation. They look good, feel good, and fit my bed well. What's not to like?

$199.00, Buffy

Thread count: 300 single-ply

Material: 100% eucalyptus fiber (Oeko-Tex certified)

Colors available: Blush, white, light gray, dark gray, light blue, and dark blue

Bed sheets reviewer: Zoë Sessums, associate editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? These sheets got me interested by way of an Instagram ad. I was intrigued by the material-what does eucalyptus feel like?-and excited about the plant-dyed color options (they use ingredients like turmeric, gardenia, and pomegranate for the natural dying process).

How do they fit your bed? As advertised-they fit well!

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? These sheets are smoooooth and feel like a silk/cotton combo. The cool-to-the-touch nature of the material is ideal for warmer months and hot sleepers, so I found the experience very nice. They only get softer after each wash.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? I'm a fan! Not only are the sheets very lovely, but the mission of the brand is something to get behind. If you aren't satisfied with your sheets, Buffy encourages you to donate them to someone in need-and you'll still get a refund.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Hypoallergenic, earth-friendly, naturally dyed, ultrasoft.would I recommend? 100%!

$287.00, Pom Pom At Home

Material: 100% rayon made from bamboo

Colors available: White, Ivory, Ocean, Sand

Brand background: Pom Pom at Home is a Los Angeles-based marketplace for superior Belgian bedding that is allegedly sustainably sourced and free of harmful substances and synthetics. On their website, the brand claims that they provide "the most refined, natural, and highest quality fibers" in the making of their products.

Bed sheets reviewer: Sydney Gore, digital design editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I first tried this set last summer when we were testing cooling sheets and still use them so that's how you know it's actually good! There's nothing more classic than a set of white sheets so I always keep these in rotation.

How do they fit your bed? I used to have a full size mattress so the sheets were a little loose on it, but now that I'm sleeping on a queen size mattress they're a perfect fit! Last time I checked, my bed wasn't named Cinderella but it fully embodies her essence.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? As previously mentioned, I'm usually more inclined to select my bedding based on the style as opposed to the features. These days, I'm very particular about the quality of the materials. Whether it's a deep sleep or a gentle slumber, these silky sheets make me feel like I'm sleeping somewhere else, like a retreat, where I can rest in peace without being disturbed.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Absolutely! Compared to some of the other sustainable bedding brands that I've tried in the past, Pom Pom at Home doesn't compromise quality or integrity while presenting itself as a luxury brand. In this case, looks are not deceiving-you're getting exactly what you pay for!

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? If your bedding preference is usually a classic cotton, but you want to make the switch to a more sustainable fiber like bamboo that still feels luxurious then look no further than Pom Pom at Home.

$150.00, Amazon

Thread count: 400

Material: 100% eucalyptus lyocell

Colors available: Mint green, pearl, purple, blue, white, and grey

Bed sheets reviewer: Kristi Kellogg, contributor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I was in the market for new bed sheets and headed to Amazon. These 400 thread count sheets stood out for their many rave reviews. They're billed as super soft, hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking, and naturally cooling, thanks to the eucalyptus lyocell fabric. As an added bonus, they're chemical-free and sustainably made. Oh, they also come with a lifetime warranty. How can you go wrong? I got them in gray.

How do they fit your bed? The fit was the only thing that was a little off. These sheets have deep pockets, and my mattress isn't that deep. I didn't think it would matter, but it turns out it does-the fitted sheet is just a little looser than I would have preferred, but the sheets are still great overall.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? They've got a smooth, silky feel that is, really, nothing like a regular cotton sheet-the cooling effect is the most noticeable thing about them. These bed sheets are super refreshing when it's hot out.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Yes! I liked them. Not only were they comfortable, the gray color is beautiful.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Yes, especially if they want cooling sheets with great breathability.

$145.00, Sijo

Material: 100% Tencel lyocell

Colors available: Fog, Forest, Snow, Dove, Sky, Pebble, Blush

Bed sheets reviewer: Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? Being a hotter sleeper, I wanted to try a eucalyptus set of sheets-this eco-friendly, Tencel lyocell blend from Sijo fit the bill! The sustainability and breathability of the fabric really stood out to me.

How do they fit your bed? These sheets have a more relaxed, looser look than someone who is used to sleeping on cotton percale or anything a bit more stiff. They don't cling to every corner, and have a satiny shine.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? These sheets have an almost liquid, viscose kind of feel. Like slippery, but in a nice and cooling way versus an "I'm going to slide off this bed" kind of a way. It's kind of like sleeping on a perfectly worn in vintage T-shirt that also keeps you from getting sweaty.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Yes, absolutely.

$48.00, Amazon

Material: Microfiber

Colors available: There is a huge range of colors (more than 40!), including classics like white and ivory, neutral colors like navy and green, plenty of pastels, and even a few understated patterns. I have them in a crisp matte white.

Bed sheets reviewer: Kristi Kellogg, contributor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? The promise of a luxury feel-and they did not disappoint. I also loved the fact that they're hypoallergenic and wrinkle-free. They lived up to the hype on all counts. My favorite thing about these sheets is how soft they are.

How do they fit your bed? They are snug and secure. They fit like they're supposed to.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? Like you're in a hotel! Crawling into a bed that's freshly made with these sheets is a dream.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Without hesitation. These are legitimately the best bed sheets I've ever tried.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? Absolutely. It's worth mentioning that I've used these for more than a year, and they're just as good as the day they arrived. I can definitely attest that they are long-lasting and high-quality sheets.

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? Without hesitation. I can 10/10 recommend buying these for every bed in your home.

$105.00, Benji

Thread count: 1500 threads per square inch

Material: Benji bed sheets are made using what the company calls Smart Fabric, which is designed to "wick away moisture" and control your temperature during sleep, all while staying extremely soft.

Colors available: white, navy, stone, charcoal, dots, rosé, pinstripe, and grid-plus some limited edition earth tones in sand, sky, and forest.

Bed sheets reviewer: Megan Wahn, associate commerce editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I generally gravitate towards soft and smooth when it comes to what goes under my quilt or duvet. And considering I was in the market for a second set of white sheets for my bed, it seemed like Benji could deliver just that.

How do they fit your bed? There was a little bit of excess with the fitted and top sheet, but overall tucked in quite nice and snug.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? One of my favorite sensations in the world is sliding into bed post-shower and nighttime routine-you feel squeaky clean, you're glistening from head to toe after your thorough full-body skincare regime, and you're ready to pull the covers up to your chin to bathe in all of your contentment, before turning out the light and going to sleep. The sheets on your bed are key to this experience. They need to be soft, smooth, and just a little delicate. The Benji sheets checked all of those boxes. Getting into bed with these sheets made me feel like a knife slicing through a creamy slab of butter, which was exactly what I wanted.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? My basis for sheets when I'm running my hand over various options in the bedding aisle is simply "do they feel soft and not scratchy?" Typically this means I settle for a microfiber set, and I leave it at that. So with that in mind, these sheets exceeded my expectations. They have the same smoothness as most microfiber, but kick it up a few notches to flow fluidly over your bed (and you).

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? In a heartbeat. The sheets coolly slither over my body each night in the most relaxing way, yet they still keep me cozy without getting overheated throughout the night. The special Smart Fabric material Benji uses for all of their products is perfect and makes me feel like I'm living the high life, but not at the price tag of luxe Egyptian cotton.

$468.00, Lunya

Material: Silk

Colors available: White

Bed sheets reviewer: Sydney Gore, digital design editor

What attracted you to these bed sheets? I'm very pro-silk in general, and have been sleeping on silk pillowcases for almost a decade that I absolutely swear by. So, it was only a matter of time before I upgraded to silk sheets too! I foresee this as the next big boom in bedding, there's truly nothing more luxurious than silk in a bedroom.

How do they fit your bed? I'll be honest: I don't typically use flat sheets, especially in the summertime, but this sheet was super easy to dress on my full mattress. I'm not one for tucking because I switch positions while I slumber, so I let everything on my bed hang out, but it's not noticeable with a sturdy duvet cover.

What's it like sleeping on these bed sheets? It feels like sleeping on a cloud! There's something extra delicate about silk-it's really gentle and smooth on the skin. Sleeping in the heat wave has been brutal, but these sheets added another layer of cooling to my bed that I hadn't previously considered.

Did the sheets live up to your expectations? I would say so! I set my expectations pretty mid, but these sheets were even better than I imagined. My parents are now requesting sets of their own!

Would you recommend the sheets to a friend? I firmly believe that everyone should give silk sheets a try at least once in their life.
