The number of people crossing the border from Russia to Finland has stabilised to around 7,500-8,000 people, according to the Southeast Finland Border Guard.
A week ago, Russia dropped Covid restrictions and similar border crossing numbers were reported.
According to the Border Guard, four out of five crossing the border are Russian citizens with the remainder being Finnish citizens. Other nationalities, mainly Ukrainians, Swedes, and Germans have also been recorded crossing the border.
Additionally, the Border Guard noted that people living in Finland and going to Russia for petrol was lower than had been initially expected.
Border crossings are still down compared to 2012-2017 when up to 30,000 people a day crossed the border.
