Members of Western Finland's Coast Guard reported an unusual sighting of several simultaneous waterspouts over the sea, between the municipalities of Kustavi and Pyhämaa, off the southwest coast.

At most, there were seven of the waterspouts observed at the same time, the Coast Guard announced in a tweet on Monday.

Waterspouts are formed by water droplets from clouds and seawater, brought together by strong, spinning winds.

According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the formation of waterspouts require wind speeds of at least 18m/s.

The weather phenomena in its single form was spotted in Finland in 2019.
