Arsenal's hopes of earning a substantial fee for Bernd Leno have suffered a blow with Fulham refusing to meet the Gunners' asking price.
The Germany international has spent four years with the north London club but wants to leave having lost his place as undisputed No.1 last season following the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.
Leno made just two appearances in the second half of the season and wants regular first team football to boost his chances of making Germany's World Cup squad.
Arsenal have already planned for Leno's impending departure by recruiting USA international goalkeeper Matt Turner and the 27-year-old made his non-competitive debut in the 5-3 win over Nurnberg on Friday.
Leno has just under 12 months remaining on his current contract and Arsenal are said to want around £11million for the 30-year-old.
Newly promoted Fulham, however, are reluctant to pay that fee, according to Sky Germany, but the former Bayer Leverkusen star is hopeful a resolution can be found.
Arsenal, meanwhile have enjoyed a productive start to the transfer window with Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira having joined the aforementioned Turner.
Mikel Arteta, however, is keen to make further additions to a squad which ran out of steam last season and missed out on Champions League qualification.
'There are more things that we would like to do if we can but the market will dictate what we can do, but so far we are happy with what we have done,' said Arteta last week.
'As I said before we can improve the team, we are still in the market and are going to try to do it, but we are not going to go to any specific names.'
