A majority of people in Finland believe that sanctions on Russia should be tightened further, despite the economic effects of rising inflation, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Uutissuomalainen newspaper group.

The poll found that 54 percent of respondents were in favor of tougher sanctions, while slightly less than one third said the current level of sanctions was sufficient.

Only 5 percent said they believe sanctions against Finland's eastern neighbour should be lifted.

The survey polled the opinions of 1,000 people living in Finland, and was carried out between 14 and 22 June. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points in either direction.
