Footy WAG Jesinta Franklin has revealed why she doesn't want her two-year-old daughter Tullulah to follow in her footsteps by becoming a model.

The former Miss Universe Australia, 30, who is married to AFL star Lance 'Buddy' Franklin, said on Thursday she struggled with body image issues because of her career and doesn't want the same thing to happen to Tullulah.

'It's something I think about a lot, and I'll probably regret saying this, but deep down, I hope that [Tallulah] doesn't want to model,' she told Now To Love.

Despite making a good living from modelling and working with major brands like Olay, David Jones and Tiffany & Co., Jesinta said she had also experienced the darker side of the industry.

'I've had some really tough experiences in the past, and I know it still affects me to this day, especially with body image,' she said.

The Swisse ambassador recalled a distressing time when she was measured and weighed every morning while modelling in China, and feared she would lose her contract if her weight fluctuated.

She also faced pressures in Australia, where she said the mantra of the modelling industry used to be: 'The thinner you are, the more you work.'

'I was very unhealthy at that stage,' she added. 'I didn't weigh enough, and I was over-exercising and undereating.

'I think if you speak to most people who worked in the modelling industry [then], the stories are probably really similar.'

She continued: 'That was probably the biggest challenge for me that had long-lasting effects on my health and the way that I looked at my body.

'I'd like to think that I'm on the other side of that now.'

However, recent changes in the industry mean Jesinta is optimistic her daughter won't face the same pressures if she chooses to enter the profession.

Jesinta shares two children, Tullulah and son Rocky, one, with Sydney Swans great Buddy, 35, whom she married in November 2016.
