Mark your calendars: Amazon Prime Day, the two-day shopping bonanza where you'll find the best deals this side of Black Friday, is July 12 and 13. If you've been waiting to pull the trigger on a big purchase, you're not alone; here at BA, we're eagerly awaiting deep discounts on everything from kitchen appliances and cookware to vacuums and mattresses. (NB: Some of those deals are already live.) Here's what our editors are hoping to score on Amazon Prime Day 2022.

I've been doing that thing where I really want a Vitamix but don't want to pay for it, so I keep buying cheap knockoffs. Well, a couple of weeks ago my imitation V-mix shattered near the base-it can't really crush ice, but it crushes glass no problem, turns out. This Prime Day, I'm praying to the blender gods that the 64-ounce Vitamix Explorian will be on sale (editor's note: you're in luck Ali, it's on sale as of now) so I'm not tempted to take my usual stroll to Dollar General instead. With 10 speeds to choose from, a pulse feature to coarsely chop herbs and alliums, and a big enough container for entertaining, I know this baby can take me from smoothie to salsa to soup and beyond. Forever and ever, amen. -Ali Francis, editor

I am a lucky owner of a very good blender, but it is simply too big for most day-to-day tasks in my two person household like making ginger-garlic paste or chopping small quantities of shallots, nuts, herbs, and spices. A knife or mortar and pestle works just fine in those moments, but once a month I pledge that it's finally time to carve out space in my kitchen cabinet for a sleek three-cup Cuisinart to make my life that much easier (and, let's be real, to churn out single portions of whipped cream). Maybe putting this out into the world is the push I need to invest in one. -Sonia Chopra, executive editor

The thing I miss most about living with my parents is their Zojirushi rice cooker. (Sorry, Mom and Dad.) Every day during dinner prep, one of my family members would volunteer, "I'll make the rice!" Thanks to the user-friendly nature of our Zojirushi, this is the easiest task: It just means measuring out the rice, rinsing it, and adding it to the machine along with water up to the designated line. The best part, aside from rice made perfectly every time? This model plays "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" upon completion. This Amazon Prime Day, I'm getting my own. -Kate Kassin, editorial operations associate

After two months of aggressively scrubbing scrambled eggs off my nonstick pan, I have to accept the fact that it can no longer reasonably be described as nonstick. So I asked the BA test kitchen which pan I should replace it with, and they voted strongly in favor of the Zwilling Madura Plus. ("My ultimate ultimate," said associate food editor Kendra Vaculin.) Tramontina's more affordable option got some love as well, and I'm crossing my fingers that one of them will be on sale this Amazon Prime Day so I can stop with the scrubbing. -Meryl Rothstein, deputy editor

I've long flirted with the idea of having a Berkey water purifier in my kitchen, but the cost and spatial footprint kept me from pulling the trigger. Then-and this is where the anxious mom in me comes out-the EPA acknowledged how horrible "forever chemicals" are for our health and suggested that water filters can help reduce our exposure. But Berkey's charcoal filters and stainless steel system do more than just remove PFAS; they pull out kerosene, algae blooms, Round-Up, phthalates, arsenic, and a lot of other stuff you definitely don't want to know is in your water right now. Let's just say that I'll be making room on my countertop stat. -Sasha Levine, digital director

For the last few years, I've been sleeping on a $250 mattress-a step up if you consider the time I spent tossing and turning on an old futon (my back still hasn't fully recovered). Enough is enough. Amazon Prime Day is sure to mean some excellent mattress deals; I'm hoping I'll wake up on July 12th to a big discount on this luxurious Nectar mattress with gel memory foam. -Megan Wahn, associate commerce editor

A couple weeks ago, I did everyone's favorite life task-moving to a new apartment. Since I'd been using my former roommate's plates and bowls, I'm now on the hunt for a dinnerware set to call my own. I do approximately 90% of my eating out of pasta bowls, and this affordable set features one that's not too shallow, not too deep. There are plates and soup bowls for when I need those too, and I'm all about the speckled design. -K.K.

It's not that I've always wanted an Instant Pot. It's just that recently, the only thing on my mind has been saucy shredded chicken tostadas. I know, I know-an IP isn't the only way to make them, but my colleagues tell me it's the quickest, easiest way. I've got my eye on the 6-quart Instant Pot Duo, which my household will put to good work making everything from steamed rice to glazed spare ribs to, yes, endless shredded chicken for tostadas. -Tiffany Hopkins, commerce writer

A wise woman once told me that if you can't remember when you bought your Microplane, chances are, it's time to replace it. If that fact weren't proof enough that I'm already long overdue, then the ache in my arms (yes, I have to switch sides) after zesting a whole lemon most certainly is. Truth is, I've had trouble justifying buying a new one when the grater in my drawer still "works," but after last night's battle with a ginger knob, I know it's time to say goodbye. I'll be setting a reminder to check in with my grater a year or so down the road and finding another exercise for my triceps in the meantime. -S.L.

I haven't owned a TV since 2016, and for the most part, I don't miss it. But when the pandemic hit we converted a corner of our basement into a budget home gym, and since then I've been doing squats while watching my stories on an iPhone propped up on a foam roller. It's no way to live. I don't know my OLEDs from my Micro-LEDs, but Wired says this Sony model is a beaut and will almost certainly be on sale during Amazon Prime Day. That's good enough for me. -MacKenzie Chung Fegan, senior commerce editor
