The hot weather holding over from Midsummer will continue into the weekend. Excluding the most northern part of Lapland, temperatures will hover around and above 30 degrees on Friday and Saturday, according to Yle meteorologist Elias Paakkanen.

While the weather is mostly sunny, there is a chance for isolated thunderstorms. Paakkanen said Friday could see thunderstorms in Lapland and Åland, while Saturday could have electrical storms along the broader west coast.

Even though Sunday is predicted to still be hot, a rain front will pass over Finland providing a possible reprieve from the heat.

"Rain and thunderstorms can be expected, followed by slightly cooler air, but in eastern Finland it is still possible to reach 30 degrees even on Sunday," Paakanen stated.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued heat, forest fire, and UV radiation warnings from Friday until Sunday.
