The West Virginia senator Joe Manchin dealt a huge blow to Joe Biden on Sunday by saying he was a "no" on the administration's $1.75tn Build Back Better domestic spending plan.

Biden and congressional Democrats this week said they would delay BBB until next year.
But Manchin then chose an interview with Fox News Sunday to make his announcement - a provocative move in a party in which centrists like Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona have held up the legislation for months, to the huge frustration of progressives.
"I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation," Manchin said. "I just can't. I've tried everything humanly possible. I can't get there."
The host, Bret Baier, said: "You're done? This is a no?"
Manchin said: "This is a no on this piece of legislation. I have tried everything I know to do."
