Dobbies garden centres will become the latest retail destination to install electric car charging facilities, as part of a deal with charge point operator Gridserve.
An initial agreement will see 30 Dobbies garden centres receive up to 12 high-power EV charge points.
The 'destination electric hubs' will be installed in Dobbies car parks across the country.
In time, it is expected that many more of Dobbies' 74 retail locations will get electric car chargers.
"We're thrilled to be partnering with Dobbies on this category-first collaboration," said Gridserve CEO Toddington Harper.
The new chargers will "help raise both the viability and visibility of electric vehicles and EV charging to new audiences".
Charge point installation will begin in spring 2022 - and Dobbies CEO Graeme Jenkins says he is "proud to be the first garden centre retailer" to roll out such a comprehensive EV charger network.
All the chargers will accept contactless payment, and will provide real-time usage updates to Zap-Map. They will also be powered by net-zero-carbon energy.
Dobbies will be using Gridserve's standard nationwide pricing, "making it considerably cheaper to recharge an EV than fill an equivalent vehicle with petrol or diesel".
