More than 1,000 cannabis plants worth £1million have been seized at a warehouse in east London.

Detectives also found cultivation equipment in Ferry Lane, Rainham on Tuesday.

The Met's East Area Drugs Focus Desk, supported by neighbourhoods officers, conducted a drugs warrant at the commercial premises.

On entry, police found it was being used as a cannabis factory.

Detective Sergeant Owen Morgan said: "A seizure of this magnitude will undoubtedly have an impact on drugs supply on London's streets.

"We know that there is a link between drugs and violent crime, with both having a devastating impact on our communities.

"We remain focused and committed to disrupting and preventing drug supply in Havering, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham.

"All information received from the public is acted upon and I urge anyone who is aware of any suspicious activity to report it to the police as soon as possible."

There have been no arrests at this time and enquiries continue.

Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting 1132/30Nov, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
