The end is nigh. A countdown timer has appeared in Fortnite - but what does it mean?
Fornite Chapter 2 Season 8 has seen Cubes descend on the island in the wake of the Mothership explosion at the end of Season 7. These Cubes have since converged into a pyramid at the center of the map, and atop it all the Cube Queen has been waiting.
Players logging into Fortnite will have noticed an ominious countdown timer appear on their screen. But what does it mean? Well, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is drawing to a close. The timer is counting down to the Season 8 live event, set to be one of the biggest in Fortnite's history. The final showdown against the Cube Queen will be the main focus for the Fortnite Chapter 2 Finale: The End.
But that's not all. Along with the finale event, Epic Games has announced that they'll be forgoing Seasons nine and ten in Chapter 2. Instead, we'll be heading straight into Chapter 3. The countdown therefore signals the end of Chapter 2 in its entirety.

The finale is set to take place on Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. ET and will be a one-time only event. With so much at stake, you won't want to miss this one.
