A whole host of Newcastle United fans are ecstatic on Twitter to read the latest Michael Emenalo news.

Now that Newcastle have a permanent head coach in Eddie Howe, they can move on to matters further away from the pitch in the form of appointing a director of football that can help work with the manager in terms of transfer dealings, contract extensions and player sales.

The Magpies have been linked with the likes of Michael Edwards, who is set to leave Liverpool next year, and Ralf Rangnick, who is currently with Lokomotiv Moscow, but the owners appear to have settled on former Chelsea technical director Emenalo, with Italian journalist Rudy Galetti claiming Newcastle want him appointed by the end of this week.

The latest reports had suggested that a breakthrough had been made, with an announcement expected before their next game. However, it seems things are moving on very swiftly indeed.

A lot of Newcastle fans are very happy on Twitter following this latest news.

Emenalo's last job was working for French side Monaco, although he arrived in a tough period of time, which saw them sell off their top players in Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva after becoming league champions. However, the calibre of players he managed to sign at Stamford Bridge WAS staggering as he attracted the likes of Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne and N'Golo Kante.

However, something of note for Newcastle fans is that during Emenalo's time with Monaco, he farmed current Magpies star Allan Saint-Maximin out on loan to SC Bastia, before selling him to Nice the following summer, which could suggest he may not fancy the winger and want to do the same with him on Tyneside if he does arrive.
