A 17-year-old girl who vanished while jogging in France has reappeared over a day after she disappeared, claiming she was kidnapped.

The teenager, who has not been named, left her home in Saint-Brice for a run in the forest at about 4pm on Monday local time.

She was reported missing hours later by her father after she failed to return home, the BBC reported.

Her phone and GPS watch were found along her running route, with traces of blood.

A search was launched, but the girl was not found until she was next seen at a kebab shop in Sable-sur-Sarthe, at about 8pm on Tuesday night, allegedly in a state of shock.

French media reported that she said she had been seized by several kidnappers.

Police had opened a kidnapping inquiry before she reappeared.

A man was arrested on Wednesday but released without charge.

Witnesses told French media that girl had "a bit of blood on her" and that she had escaped a vehicle before seeking refuge in the kebab shop.

Investigations are continuing.
