One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has questioned why the prime minister is being so "bloody-minded" about the proposed Toowoomba quarantine facility.
The proposed sight just outside of Toowoomba's Wellcamp Airport could house 1,000 and would be built on private land by the Wagner family.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison earlier shut down the idea saying it just doesn't stack up and cited lack of detail from Queensland.
"This camp has worked in the Northern Territory. It will not cost the taxpayers one cent, yet the prime minister said it's not going to happen," Ms Hanson told Sky News. © Provided by Sky News Australia
"It could operate, that could give people the satisfaction of knowing that they are going to be safe because hotel quarantine hasn't always worked."
Ms Hanson also stressed the amount of police officers city hotel quarantine takes up.
"Another costly expense to the taxpayer."
