Gary Lineker was feeling fortunate after watching Leicester City win the FA Cup for the first time in their history on Saturday.

Cheered on by 10,000 Foxes fans, Leicester made history by winning the trophy for the first time ever, with Youri Tielemans scoring the winner with a sensational strike in a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

They did, however, have to survive a late scare after former player Ben Chilwell scored in added time.

Luckily for Brendan Rodgers' side, VAR was on hand to disallow the goal due to an offside in the build-up.

And Lineker clearly felt like luck was on his old side, as he tweeted: "I f*****g love VAR," afterwards.

Lineker makes no secret of his affection for Leicester, having supported the club as a boy.

He played for the club for seven years, scoring 103 times in 216 games.

But he never got his hands on the FA Cup during his time there, and it was clear how much the victory meant to him as he spoke on the BBC's coverage of the game.

"Wow. They've done it. Four times they reached the final..." an emotional Lineker said.

"In Leicester's 137 years they've finally won the FA Cup!

"You won't hear me moan about VAR again. They're extraordinary scenes for all the supporters here.

"It's the one they wanted. They won the Premier League of course, but this is a trophy which escaped them for so long.

"My dad went all to all four finals. I wish he was still here.

"I hope he's watching somewhere. I hope so."
