The General Services Administration provided the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure documents relating to the lease for former President Donald Trump's hotel in Washington, D.C.

The Biden administration acknowledged in a court filing Friday that it provided House Transportation Chairman Peter DeFazio, an Oregon Democrat, with a slew of records on Trump International Hotel that he had requested earlier in May, according to CNN.

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure oversees the GSA's management of the Old Post Office Building and has done so for over two decades.

The Trump administration "repeatedly obstructed our efforts to carry out necessary oversight of a federally owned property that created conflicts of interests," DeFazio and Dina Titus, the chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, alleged in a letter to acting GSA Administrator Katy Kale sent March 16.

The GSA responded to that letter, saying it will turn over some of the requested documents, including financial statements, audits, and lease amendments. It opted not to provide legal memorandums, citing "internal executive branch legal advice."

DeFazio had previously issued the request under the previous administration, but he was rebuffed.

Trump won a federal contract in 2013 to overhaul the Old Post Office Building that is located a short walk from the White House, according to the Washington Post. The building opened in 2016, a short time before he won the presidential election that November.

The lease between the property and the Trump Organization lasts for 60 years, and the company pays the government $3 million annually for rent and a share of any profits above an undisclosed marker.
