The SFA face a Scottish Cup Final fans sweat after Nicola Sturgeon announced Glasgow would remain in Level 3 restrictions.
Hampden chiefs announced on Thursday that 600 supporters would be permitted to attend the showdown between Hibs and St Johnstone on Saturday, May 22.
However, the application was made under the proviso of the city moving to Level 2 in line with the vast majority of Scotland's local authorities, which will do so from Monday.
But a recent spike in coronavirus cases in Glasgow has prompted a late rethink over the easing of restrictions in the area.
It means the city will remain under tighter curbs which do no permit stadiums to host any supporters.
Revealing the decision at Holyrood on Friday afternoon, the First Minister admits she knows it will come as a bitter blow for many.
Sturgeon said: "I know how disappointing this will be, but pressing pause for a few days will hopefully avoid a situation in which we have to impose even more restrictive measures over the next few weeks.
"It is inevitable that as we continue to navigate our way through this pandemic, we will hit bumps in the road, however, if we exercise suitable caution as we're seeking to do today, then even though that is difficult, we are much more likely to stay on the right track overall."
The SFA are in the dark over whether this change will have an impact on the decision to allow fans into the showpiece game.
Earlier on Friday, Hibs had announced their plans to allocate 60 tickets to players and staff, with the remaining 240 being balloted between supporters.
A club statement said: "We will allocate 60 Scottish Cup Final tickets to players and staff. The remaining 240 will be offered to 2020-21 season ticket holders via ballot, with a proportion of these offered to hospitality season ticket members also via ballot."
