Celtic captain Scott Brown marked his final appearance at Celtic Park as a Hoops player with a man of the match performance in the 4-0 win over St Johnstone.

Prior to kick-off, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell presented the 35-year-old with a gift to mark the occasion.

Brown signed for Celtic in May 2007 and since then has gone on to win 10 Scottish Premiership titles and 12 domestic cup trophies including four consecutive trebles.

Stars took to social media to pay tribute to 'Broony' on his final appearance at paradise, reports the Irish Mirror.

Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer took to Instagram and posted a photo of Brown with his Celtic teammates with the words 'Legend, Thank you Broony.'

Former teammates Emilio Izaguirre and Shane Duffy also took to Instagram to call their former captain a 'legend.'

In one of the more bizarre tributes the President of Albania Ilir Meta said on Twitter:

The midfielder's final game in the green and white hoops will be on Saturday at Easter Road where Celtic take on Brown's former club Hibernian in a 12.30 pm kick-off. Brown will then team up with Stephen Glass at Aberdeen in a player-coach role.
