Pyer Moss is set to stage a show as part of Paris Couture Week for the first time.
Kerby Jean-Raymond founded his brand in 2013 and has since gone on to outfit the likes of producer Swizz Beatz, actress Gabrielle Union, and former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama.
Now, the designer is making history by becoming the first Black American to be invited by members of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to present as a guest designer.
Jean-Raymond has not yet commented on the news. However, officials of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode confirmed Pyer Moss will unveil its debut couture line as part of the event, with other guest members including Balenciaga, Charles de Vilmorin, Julie de Libran, RVDK Ronald Van Der Kemp, Yuima Nakazato, and Zuhair Murad.

There will also be presentations from Paris Couture Week regulars, including Alexandre Vauthier, Bouchra Jarrar, Chanel, Christian Dior, Giambattista Valli, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Julien Fournié, Maison Margiela, Schiaparelli, and Stéphane Rolland.
Paris Couture Week is expected to take place between 5-8 July. At this point, designers will be permitted to organise physical shows and presentations, though such events will be required to abide by "specific health protocol" in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, Jean-Raymond has agreed to present a show as part of New York Fashion Week in September.
And while many designers have been forced to dream up new formats and take their shows online over the past year, the fashion star is adamant there will always be a place for physical presentations.
"None of us would be here without fashion week. When the halo brands have a show during a specific (time frame), smaller brands can piggyback off of that because they know everyone is in town," he stated in a chat for Vogue's Global Conversations series last year. "I do think the concept of the show has to change... But it's an entry point that is so important for young designers."
