As the trio headed to the stage to accept their award, the ladies became overcome with emotion and thanked Jesy in their acceptance speech.

Leigh-Anne, 29, Perrie, 27, and Jade, 28, began: "We have just made history! In the hopes that we would win the award we've written a little speech, but two of us have baby brain so we had to write it down."

The ladies wiped their tears and they attempted to compose themselves before speaking.

"Take it away girls," Perrie expressed.

Leigh-Anne added: "We have been together for 10 years. The best years of our life. We have gone through so much, we've made so many beautiful memories.

"We want to start by thanking our incredible fans and, of course, Jesy and our amazing team.

"It's not easy being a female in the UK pop industry, we've seen white man dominance, misogyny, sexism and lack of diversity.

"We're proud how we've stuck together, stood our ground and surrounded ourselves with strong women and using our voices more than ever," Leigh-Anne concluded.

Jade gushed: "The fact that a girl band has never won this award really does speak volumes so this award isn't just for us, it's for The Spice Girls, Sugababes, All Saints, Girls Aloud and all the incredible female bands. This one's for you."

Jesy decided to leave the band and issued a statement to her fans in December.

Leigh-Anne and Perrie, who are both pregnant, walked the red carpet and showed off their blossoming baby bumps.

The pair were glowing as they attended the star-studded event with bandmate Jade.

Perrie wore a gorgeous silk white crop top and flowing skirt as she debuted her baby bump just days after her announcement.

While Leigh-Anne wore a stunning high-neck gown to the star-studded bash.
