In a hopeful step for increased freedoms across the UK, the Covid alert level was today lowered from four to three.

The decision was approved by all four of Britain's chief medical officers, including England's Professor Chris Whitty.

The news came as health minister Nadine Dorries suggested that Brits might soon be able to hug and kiss again.

Dorries also hinted at the possibility of the roadmap being brought forward if Covid data remains positive, but this was swiftly dismissed by Downing Street.

Do you think that the process of reopening should happen more quickly, or are you more comfortable with the current pace? Let us know in the comments for the chance to be featured on the ES website tomorrow.

Friday's Talking Point: What do you think the future holds for the Labour Party?

Last week, we asked what you thought might be in store for the Labour Party ahead of Starmer's reshuffle.

Most of the responses were not overly optimistic. "Thwobble" thought that Labour is "past its sell-by date," while "zeeshanzafar04" added: "Labour has nothing to do with the future because it has no future at all."

Some thought that the answer was to "get rid of Starmer and bring back Corbyn," but others thought that the party needed to rid itself of Corbynism with stronger leadership.

"Djsat2" said: "Feel like the Corbyn effect is still in play for Labour...they'll have to suffer through it a while longer, a consistent message and prevailing leadership would help...don't do a Lib Dems and change leadership constantly!"
