A Place In The Sun's newest presenter Lee Juggurnauth, 34, has revealed that he was previously rejected by the dream property show before being cast as a presenter last year. Speaking to Express.co.uk, the former music industry runner candidly opened up about being turned down by producers two years ago, in favour of a female presenter.

Speaking about the moment he learnt that he had been successfully cast for the show last year, Lee admitted that it was a dream come true, as he had been turned down by the property show before.

He said: "It was kind of like a pinch me moment because I had previously auditioned for the show two years prior to that.

"I got quite far, I got into the final two, but they chose someone else instead because they wanted a girl at the time."

But after auditioning again, the Channel 4 presenter was told last year that he had been successful.

He explained: "There's that saying that goes, 'What's meant to be won't pass you,' so that that's a true testament to that."

Following the rejection, Lee revealed that he went on to invest in working hard on his presenting skills.

He said: "In terms of getting a career on TV it's a lot more than just saying, 'I want to be a presenter.'

"I was doing things like vocal classes, to make sure my voice was always on point when I was on camera and improvisation classes too."

The TV star revealed that he has always gone the extra mile to achieve his goals: "I always think that you can learn an extra skill, so when I was 20 the arrogance in me was like 'Yeah, I can do this.'"

However the model and clothing line owner didn't see the rejection as a setback, as it taught him to work harder towards his goals of becoming a presenter.

"I always think there's a reason why certain things don't go your way, or you get turned down for certain things because you have to work on stuff.

"So everything that I've been turned down for has taught me to be better," he said.

Speaking about being cast in the favourite property programme, Lee revealed that the Channel 4 presenting role had been a longtime dream of his.

He said: "It's been something I've been wanting to do for the last few years and I really put all my effort and energy into trying to make something like this happen."

Early last month it was announced that the model and property expert would be joining the A Place In The Sun cast for the new series.

Before being cast into the Channel 4 spotlight, Lee carved out a name for himself in the entertainment industry after working with the likes of Take That, Lulu and Billy Ocean.

However, the new host has one hand firmly in the property market, having bought and sold projects both at home and abroad for over a decade.

He boasts an impressive portfolio that features abodes in London, Ibiza and Mauritius.

He is also launching his own gender-neutral clothing line later this year, Juggurnaut.

Lee's first episode of A Place In The Sun is on Channel 4, 3pm on Monday 10 May.
