Mohamed Salah is reportedly a surprise target for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window as they seek alternatives should Kylian Mbappe leave the French capital.

Mbappe is a key component to Mauricio Pochettino's attack at the Parc des Princes having scored 37 goals from 43 games this season but is about to enter the final year of his contract.

Real Madrid have been weighing up a move for the France striker who has hit a stalemate with PSG in regards over signing a new deal.

PSG's Champions League exit at the hands of Manchester City in the semi-finals on Tuesday night is unlikely to have helped convince the 22-year-old to stay put, meaning the French giants are now seeking possible alternatives should they not be able to get him to sign a new deal.

According to French outlet Le Parisien, attention will turn towards Salah who they claim is keen to leave Liverpool.

Although Salah's contract situation is less of a concern with two years still left to run on his Anfield stay, the lack of progress over committing to Jurgen Klopp's side has led to PSG joining Madrid and Barcelona in monitoring his situation.

Back in March, Salah was coy when quizzed over his future by stating 'we'll see what happens', prompting fears among Reds fans he was looking to leave Anfield.

At the start of the month, the forward admitted little progress had been made over extending his contract having not held discussions with the club.

Salah told Sky Sports: 'No one is talking to me about that, so I can't say much about that. No one in the club is talking to me about anything so I do not know.'

In January Salah said that he was 100 per cent committed to staying at Liverpool but again insisted it was down to Liverpool to act in keeping him at Anfield.

'If you ask me, I say I want to stay as long as I can, but as I've said before, it's in the club's hands,' he told Norwegian TV channel TV2.

'I'm always going to give 100 per cent until the last minute I'm at this club and I want to win as many trophies as I can. I want to give 100 per cent to the people who show me love all the time.'

Salah has made a huge impact since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, scoring 123 goals in 198 appearances while helping the Reds win the Premier League and Champions League.
