Scott McDonald has called for Celtic to step-up their next manager hunt ahead of the Champions League qualifiers.
With Eddie Howe the favourite for the Celtic Park hot seat there is a massive rebuild on the horizon for Neil Lennon's replacement.
With a number of first-team regulars set to leave Glasgow's east end a huge recruitment drive will be required this summer.
Former Celt McDonald told The Grandstand Football Podcast that transfer missteps have been among the biggest issues for the club this term.
The striker, who is now playing for Western Sydney Wanderers, believes the club will need to get their decisions spot on and that starts with the urgent boss appointment.
McDonald said: "I look at it this season and recruitment is the biggest key factor in any club.
"This season it just hasn't been good enough.
"If we look at leadership, I think it's been a big problem for Celtic as a whole because the fans haven't been in this season.
"What they bring to the football club, and the demand, has been left to the manager this year alone and it failed.

" Neil Lennon tried and tried again but his man management skills this time round didn't have the effect on those players.
"Effectively those players are Brendan Rodgers' players and with that he has a different style of playing.
"From that, he just didn't get the reaction. All of a sudden, from that Rangers have flipped it on it's head after so much dominance for Celtic.
"Everyone was thinking they had the team to get 10 In A Row. Now they need a whole new team, but firstly they need a new manager.
"It's not taken six or seven weeks. Eddie Howe is still linked with it, but we're no closer to know, and they really need to get a move on now.
"The Champions League qualifiers are only around the corner now at the beginning of July so they really need to get their foot out."
