Michael B Jordan is fast becoming the man of the moment, with titles such as Without Remorse, Black Panther 2, and Creed 3 either out now or on the horizon. There's another project on his radar, though: a Static Shock movie.

Following a fresh bout of reports attaching him to the upcoming Superman reboot from JJ Abrams, Michael B Jordan has given fans an exciting update on his Worlds of DC adaptation of Static Shock.

Based on the comic book hero Static, Static Shock will follow Virgil Hawkins, a Black teenager who gets electricity-themed superpowers and later works alongside the Teen Titans and Justice League.

Jordan, who is "really excited" about the big-screen adaptation, told Collider that writer Randy McKinnon is on board, and is "putting together take and a draft right now".

That's about it on the development front though, with Jordan confirming there are "no real timelines and... no real updates" just yet.

"We're in the process of building that out," he added. "I can't wait to have something more to tell you guys later."

Reflecting on the '00s animated Static Shock series, the actor went on to praise its potential for promoting greater diversity. "As a kid growing up, watching Static Shock, it was something that inspired me and had that type of representation at a young age," he said.

"It was really important to me, and I know it would be important to a lot of other kids today. To be able to adapt the live-action version of that, I'm really, really excited about."
